Pretty sure they weren't renamed from the original library. Perhaps you only got the selection of samples from DVD1 of World Pack somehow, and it was just simply labeled as "Ethnic Flavours" even though it's-- I'm guessing--the first set of selected samples from World Pack. There are more from the original library on the second DVD of World Pack.
EDIT: I found at least 5 samples used in game music from just a small selection of demos to an old-ass library called Percussive Adventures (on Best Service's ProSamples vol. 33), but I am having some real trouble finding the library.. Even Pro Samples vol. 04 which is supposed to have at least a selection of samples from Percussive Adventures. Last edited by Nisto; Feb 16, 2013 at 01:22 PM. |

Speaking of Kingdom Hearts. I have found these a while ago.
They are from BBS "Enter the Darkness" and "Unbreakable Chains" http://www.mediafire.com/?86dinfbz03zjpbi Steve Outburst came from Soundscapes For Cinemas - Loops for Apple and the rest came from Noize Loopz |

Nice thread, here are some I have found:
Metal Gear Solid 3 - "CAT WOMAN" from "Spectrasonics: Distorted Reality 2" is used in 1.05 "On The Ground ~ Battle In The Jungle" Dead or Alive 4 - "Track 29" (Sample 5) from "eLab: X-Static Goldmine 4" is used in 2.10 "Tehu Tehu Remix" Einhänder - "Track 75" (Sample 2) from "Best Service: Voice Spectral" is used in 04 "Street" - "Track 5" (Sample 12) from "Sounds Good: Sample Material" is used in 05 "Ruins" - "LAUNCH PAD" from "Spectrasonics: Distorted Reality" is used in 10 "Warning" - "BLIPS+BLOP" from "Zero-G: Cuckooland Unhinged" is used in 12 "Factory" - "TEKNO PRISON" from "Spectrasonics: Distorted Reality" is used in 12 "Factory" - "Track 6" (Samples 14-16) from "eLab: X-Static Goldmine 4" are used in 20 "Rebellion" - "Track 16" (Sample 1) from "eLab: X-Static Goldmine 4" is used in 26 "Judgement" (bonus sound effect) The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time - "Track 8" (Sample 9) from "eLab: X-Static Goldmine 4" is the sound the chicken make when they're attacked Also, I'm fairly certain that all the drum samples and instruments which Nobuo Uematsu used for the FF7 and FF8 soundtracks are from the Akai sound library CDs. They are just too many to list here and a lot of them sound alike to determine definite names. |

EDIT: Found some more samples! Final Fantasy X-2 - "Track 48" (Sample 1) from "Sounds Good: Methods of Mayhem" is used in 1.29 "Sphere Hunter" - "PREDATO 12" from "East West: Symphonic Adventures" is used in 2.02 "Great Existence" - "SMAL INSAA" from "East West: Symphonic Adventures" is used in 2.09 "Bevelle's Secret" Also, I think "WILD FREE" was used somewhere in FFX-2, but where? I added these samples to the first post, ty!
Don't know about the WILD FREE sample -- I don't recognize it at all. But who knows, the FFX-2 soundtrack is basically bombarded with Symphonic Adventures samples I found a few samples myself: Spoiler:
Yeah, these three libraries are packed with classic 90s stuff, you'll likely recognize at least one sample yourself. Some other slightly unrelated stuff I'm not adding: - Track 3, sample 6 from Datafile 1 was used in Kaori Nakagawa's original song "Walking in the Park" (http://www.myspace.com/music/player?sid=82802584&ac=now) (1:54) - Track 35, sample 5 from Datafile 1 may be the animal SFX used at e.g. Great Bay Coast during night in Majora's Mask - Track 85, sample 23 from Datafile 1 reminds me of a SFX from Final Fantasy VII. Anyone.. ? So to wrap it up, here's what's been added to the first post: Spoiler:

Front Mission 4 - 1.24 - Lock & Load
Killer7 - 1.05 - Shoot Speed Same percussion sample. There was a small debate if Masafumi Takada sampled Hidenori Iwasaki's track. If you could find the sample in a library, that would make things clear. Devil May Cry 1 - 2.14 - Final Penetration @ 0:28 Spyro 2 underwater stage both use a common non-vocal sample Devil May Cry 1 - 2.14 - Final Penetration @ 0:28 Breath of Fire IV - 1.14 - God of War @ 0:23 common or very similar vocal sample Last edited by DanteLectro; Apr 27, 2013 at 06:40 AM. |

"Understand the Concept of Love".
Used in: Jet Set Radio Future - Concept of Love (2002) The King of Fighters '95 - Arrange Sound Trax, track 11 (ギターとオメガとルガールと) This is from a speech by Stokely Charmichael, according to the Youtube comments on the first song: Quote:

Spyro 2 doesn't have a soundtrack so i can't give a more specific description, but if you actually do check out the DMC track i mentioned, you'll see (it's a 6-note sample).
If Hidenori Iwasaki created the sample in FM4, Masafumi Takada could've asked him for a pure sample. BTW vocals are sampled all the time despite not being perfectly clean in songs, not impossible (filtering). |

Holy cow, that's a lot of samples. I'll (slowly) work on adding these to the first post. Good job finding all these, and welcome to VGMdb
Also, I might have to (slightly) re-arrange the way samples are represented now that you introduce actual synthesizers. Question; are there specific libraries or something where I can check out samples from specific synthesizers? I don't have access to any of these synths. I see you named some libraries for some of the synthesizers, but what about the rest.. are they available somewhere? It would be nice if I could verify the samples you've posted. Samples from the Yamaha RX-5 and Akai XR-10 can be heard here.
I don't think there's a library of samples from the U-110/U-220/their respective cards, but demos of them can be heard at Synthmania.com (U-110, U-220, SN-U110-02 Latin & F.X. Percussions, SN-U110-09 Guitar & Keyboards) Demos of SN-U110-03 Ethnic (among other cards) can be heard here. (Most of this series' sounds seem to have originated in S-50/S-550 libraries, anyway. Like most of the libraries I've mentioned, you can convert them to WAVs and such with the proper software if you manage to get a hold of them. Most of the floppy disk images can be found at SGroup, L-CD-1 disk image is available here) Korg M1 and T3 demos can also be heard at Synthmania.com. A virtual version of these synths for use on PCs was released a few years ago as "Korg Legacy Collection Digital Edition." Akai MPC-60 and MPC-3000 libraries are collected in the "Akai CD-ROM Sound Library MPC2000XL Vol. 1" CD. Akai S-1000 libraries are collected in the "Akai CD-ROM Sound Library Vol.2" CD. Anyway, I still have some more stuff to be added, I'll get to that soon. Last edited by felineki; Apr 30, 2013 at 02:59 PM. |

This 'factory metal' effect is actually used a lot in the FF7 and FF8 soundtracks, amongst others. Who knows which library they used for it, such tambourine samples can be found in a lot of those early sample CDs. Quote:
There is also a series of CDs for the E-Mu sampler (called 'EMX Sound Library') with essential instruments and samples, with a total of 8 volumes. Wondering if those where used to make the OSTs. |

The Akai libraries are pretty nice. One thing I forgot to mention: The "Akai CD-ROM Sound Library Vol. 2" CD I mentioned actually seems to be missing a few things from the original S-1000 and S-1100 libraries. There are two CDs simply titled "Official Sound Library for S-1000" and "Official Sound Library for S-1100" which, according to content lists, seem to include some samples not on the aforementioned "Vol. 2" CD. I haven't been able to get a hold of those 2 yet, though.
I've also been curious about the Akai S-900/S-950 libraries, as I have a hunch some samples in the soundtracks I've been studying might have come from it (actually have been able to confirm one through a Youtube video). Haven't been able to get my hands on those yet, either. Did at least manage to find a PDF of a brochure that lists the library contents. I have also looked through some of the E-Mu libraries, and identified a few samples from them used in soundtracks (Vampire Savior, Street Fighter III: 3rd Strike). I'll update my list soon. Lol, I just watched the anime Perfect Blue and noticed some samples, one I spotted instantly:
Perfect Blue - "Soul Pride 161" from "Zero-G: Jungle Warfare" is used in 05 "Virtual Mima" Also, anyone else hear the similarity of the vocals in: this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LhfS6O4Sksw&t=1m24s and this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QTx8iG52Ruo&t=18s They are obviously not identical, but the first is just a little lower pitched than the latter, and it sounds as if they are from the same library, no? The Perfect Blue OST does not credit any vocals for the respective track, so it could be the case. Let me know what you think! Last edited by Kosmos90; May 2, 2013 at 02:50 PM. |

Hi there. First post and everything.
I've been looking for such a list for a long time. I actually want to know if anybody could recognize some of the samples used by Chikayo Fukuda. Especially those in .HACK G.U. and .hack series of games in general. Supposedly .hack GU uses Roland SC-55 but I think that's wrong, considering there's so many samples used in the music which don't belong to the soundset of SC-55. Or at the very least, it uses samples from that only here and there. I'm ESPECIALLY interested if anybody knows or recognizes samples used in these songs from .hack g.u.: Vs Corbenik http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oI9wLjJ_lFE In this theme, what interests me are the drums. The kind of... "clacking" sound. It's easily recognizable. It kinda sounds like something wooden. Corridor http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6c9fl9L3ymY Here, in particular what's bothering me ever since, is the certain sound, which is used in many of the .hack g.u. tracks. It's kinda, like a bell sound except it's appreggiated. I don't even know what this instrument is called, and searching for it gave me a headache. Anyone knows anything? Thanks in advance. |
