For what it's worth (since there's no Rocket Knight Adventures OST), she composed BGM3 & 8 (stage 1-2, stage 6).
There might be more credits to delve into on her blog. I only took from the ones that interested me. |

Quick question..
How did you find out BGM3 = Stage 1-2? In game sound test? |

Yeah, those are tracks 3 & 8 in the sound test. There are a couple of other games where she refers to her compositions just by number, so sound test order is my best guess for that too, unless she has some other numbering scheme.

I just checked the songs in the sound test, and they both sound like they come right out of Light Crusader, so I'm assuming that's how she numbered them (sound test #)
EDIT: I was talking about that McDonald's game by Treasure, in which she composed Stage 1: Cave Area and Stage 3: Sunken Ship. Last edited by dissident93; Nov 7, 2012 at 03:46 PM. |

It's worth noting that, contrary to the game's credits, Aki Hata says that she only composed part of Light Crusader's soundtrack (she's not sure how much). Presumably Nazo^2 Suzuki wrote the rest, with maybe Satoshi Murata contributing a little.

Seems plausible. From what I've heard though, it seems most of Light Crusader was done by her, so any contributions by Suzuki or Murata seems to be minimal.

Man, I'm still curious what she contributed to Contra III. I tried sending her a message a while back but no response.

She contributed to Contra III? Ingame credits dont mention her. but then again neither did McDonald's Treasure Land Adventure.

Yeah, yet another tidbit confirmed from her works list. She says she composed two pieces for Contra III, but she hasn't checked which ones.
A while ago I started translating the information about her BGM works, but I never finished. Most of the truly interesting information has been added to album entries (Lagrange Point, Madara II, Dynamite Headdy, etc.) or posted in this thread (Light Crusader, McDonald's, Contra III). Maybe I'll get back to combing through her millions of lyrics credits. |

I wonder why the staff roll on Contra III doesn't give credit to Hata at all on sound part. Not even a mention on the special thanks part.

She didn't have one in McDonald's Treasure Land Adventure either.

Is there any mention of how much she did in Bakuretsu Muteki Bangai-O on N64? A rip of this has surfaced recently, Toshiya Yamanaka is involved too.

There's a soundtrack release of all three games, with full credits: http://vgmdb.net/album/7224. She did about 1/3 of it.

Is it possible that Aki Hata made music for some games that was not used, but was not aware that it wasn't used? Or was aware, at the time, but mentions making the music now, anyway just because she remembers doing it?

It's possible, I guess. For a lot of the games on her works list, she mentions specific OST tracks, mentions sound test numbers, or says she wrote all the BGM, so probably not for those games. But for the ones where she just mentions doing BGM without specifically naming any music, like Contra III, it could be.
Are you speculating that there might be a case where she wrote music for a game and none of it was actually used, perhaps Contra III? |

Yes, that sort of thing.
There is also Konami's tendency to credit people who worked on a specific port but not the original version's composers, but I don't believe Contra III was ever on another system, and even then Aki Hata would recognize which music she did. Perhaps she wrote some of the music for some other project which was cancelled, but someone else arranged the music for Contra III, but Aki Hata doesn't know which because she hasn't played the game or reviewed the sound test. Absurd, perhaps, but so is Contra. |
