Default Rarest PC game soundtracks

I know a lot of people collect retro console game soundtracks and there is not much info out there on retro PC game soundtracks. Can anyone tell me which ones are really obscure.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (2011)

Jeremy Soule, skilled in battle of sword and sorcery conceived and wrote a really epic theme that puts the willies about symphonic orchestral direction and size, directly recalling overwhelming wonders that sound like Conan the Barbarian by Basil Poledouris. Conceived as a choir of barbarians, Soule recorded in three batches to a chorus of 30 men, giving the feeling in the mix to be almost a hundred voices sing the song of Dovahkiin (Dragonborn) in the language of the dragons. A piece in crescendos, and popping corals diminuendi constant.

I don't think there were a lot of PC games with a *commercial* (separate / retail) OST release that are now hard-to-find or super-rare. Most of them were bundled in with the game.

The recent revelations that there were soundtrack releases in certain retail stores / regions for the Elder Scrolls games Daggerfall (II), Battlespire (a side-story), and Redguard (another side-story) ... that's probably some of the rarest PC music I know about. The two "Origin" discs are super-rare as well.

I guess there are Japanese PC games which got OST releases which are now rare / OOP. Plenty of Falcom games probably fit that category, if you exclude their digital release. ... Ys Origin OST is the first that comes to mind.

I thought this release was really common though.

Only one that comes to mind is "The Dig". Usually fetches a pretty penny when it is offered for sale.

Falcom's "Music from Dinosour" used to be a super rare CD, before they reprinted it and remade the game. Still rare though, is "Music from Star Trader"...how many people know Falcom actually did a shooter early on in their life?

Probably Command & Conquer 3 Tiberiam War apparently there's a disc out there, pretty rare for something recent.

Well this is a promo soundtrack, and to be honest i haven't seen it anywhere yet.
So, anything promotionnal is rare...
Commercially released i can say:

Das Schwarze Auge - Blade of Destiny
Sternenschweif
Blue Byte The Song Collection
Welcome to the Future Original Soundtrack
Adventures Of The Smart Patrol
Comer Music And Sound
Riddle Of The Sphinx Original Soundtrack
Anarchy Online Original Soundtrack
Etherlords Soundtrack
some oldest Bjorn Lynne albums

and more... but some enclosed albums are probably rarer.

Oh, I just remembered the WoW soundtracks. There are two rare discs, "Taverns of Azeroth" and the "Mosaic" disc ... IIRC those are very hard to find and relatively recent. And they were *sold* I think ... maybe at Blizzcon?

Thank you guys for all your help. That WoW Taverns of Azeroth one was only available at Blizzcon and I never seen it anywhere. I would like to find it but I think it is impossible. Another one that is extremely obsure is Lands of Lore Guardian of Time by Frank Klepacki and David Arkenstone. Keep the list coming because there are so many PC game soundtracks that you guys mentioned that I have never heard of.

I remember seeing that Blade Runner Westwood Edition soundtrack on ebay like 7 years ago. But on close inspection I noticed the back did not have a number. They were supposed to be numbered 1-10. The first one sold for over $100 then it was listed again and sold for $50(multiple copies). The disc/booklet looked exactly like the one on VGMD. But they were bootlegs and people paid good money for it.

Here is a Blade Runner Westwood game soundtrack bootleg that is on ebay right now. Notice that there is no number on the back. I think this is the same guy that has sold them in the past.

Auction ended with 0 bids which means the seller still got it. Just contact him and tell him you wanna buy it.

The copy I got says 3/10. Was a few years back, also from ebay, was something like $150~200... don't remember for sure.
I should get around doing some scans for it soon, since the ones submitted by Lich King are kinda old and low res.

EDIT: Oh and another RARE pc soundtrack is Dreamweb, which I like and is actually quite similar to Blade Runner's feel.

http://vgmdb.net/album/1775
Everquest Planes of Power

People who pre-ordered the game could then also purchase the soundtrack for an extra $5.
Puts it in a kind of grey area on being released commercially

Doesn't make it so grey if people had to pay money for it and it was directly connected to a commercially released product.

What about Dune Spice Opera?
It's a pretty rare one imo (and also one of the best game music album ever).

Not so difficult, actually, if you stop searching for a standalone CD and instead focus on the british release of the game itself. Took me ten years to realize it, but when I did, finding the soundtrack was a breeze. Expensive breeze.

Actually, it pops up on YJA frequently. I recently bought one for 2500 yen in pristine condition with obi. Since it normally goes for around 2500 yen, I consider myself lucky. I should've paid 4000 yen or more, due to the unusually clean condition. (Low price was due to the seller beep_shop always starting everything at 1,000 yen, no matter the condition or rarity.) What's odd about this is I had bid 3,000 yen on another Star Trader album (in worse condition) and I lost the auction. YJA is the land of wild random fluctuations.
