Feel like this is getting overshadowed by Breath of the Wild right now, but I'm super excited this is finally getting an OST release. Gonna have Donyoku Kai/Wold of Greed (remix of 3D: Makai/Expanse from SMT2) playing on loop. I wonder if there's been renewed interest in the old SMT scores because of the recent re-release of the Law & Chaos discs and Sound Relation.

Its entirely possible. Up until this comes out the only way you could get if... 's music was to rip the PSX or SNES versions yourself and convert from the raw sound format.

There were 9 tracks from "if..." on Sound Collection. But yes, this will be the first full OST for if...

https://vgmdb.net/album/2482

Frankly, I just want the game to come out. It was ported to iOS and Android in Japan. SMT1 got localized (and I played it, and loved it!). But no one localized SMT2 or SMTif..., and that makes me a sad bear.

Would someone with potential knowledge of the game itself be able to provide some context for these two track titles?

31 熱唱・悪魔の花道 <真・女神転生if...>
32 失笑・悪魔の花道 <真・女神転生if...>

Hanamichi can mean flower arrangement or a runway in a theater. I'm presuming it is the latter, but it is SMT so, not entirely sure.

Here's the best I got for ya:

1) I scrawled through a full-script translation of SMT if... on GameFAQs, nothing even remotely close popped out. These are clever song titles for whatever event/battle is happening.
2) I am currently watching YouTube vids of the game, full playthrough. *once the soundtrack is released,* I can identify when the songs play in-game (I personally suspect a two-part battle, or an intro talking to the boss "singing" and then the battle "laughing"). Being able to watch that scene should give clues.
3) to muddy the waters ... there is a famous Japanese movie called "Enka no Hanamachi." All the videos and screenshots I saw included both the part of the stage that extends out (the "Hanamachi") as well as flower arrangements. Maybe it's a pun? Also, interesting tie-in, a dungeon in Shin Megami Tensei ONLINE re-used the school from SMTif... and there was a weapon you could win from in there, it was a golden microphone called (wait for it) ... Enka no Hanamachi.

That's the best I got for now.

I think Ramza's on the money.

There are a couple tracks in the snesmusic.org SMT if... track translation called Enka (Success) and Enka (Failure), which lead me to this Japanese page where it says they seldom play during demon conversations.

Thanks Ramza and Eirikr! Perhaps we should just leave it as hanamichi as it does seem rather open-ended.

Album is delayed because they found a defect in one of the tracks: http://sweeprecord.com/info-20180502/

Not entirely sure which track specifically though, because they say it's 3.14, but then call it "Ending," which is 3.13.

I don't like delays, but I do like defects being fixed. So I'm all for this.

I don't know about the delay but it was released somehow already. Scans are up.

"Back" image isn't scanned. My guess? Whoever did those scans got a promotional pre-release from SuperSweep.

Having received a handful of those in the past, I know that they'll commonly hole-punch the UPC or make other alterations.

So they probably sent out the promotional items with a note saying "hey, there's this one problem on track such-and-such, the retail release will be good to go, in the meantime, here's the repaired audio file at this URL: {}"

I know that's all speculation. But I feel pretty good about it.

It was pre-sold at M3 before they found the error.

More to note about this: they've changed the message and now just say there were problems with both the recorded contents and the "inner" (I'm not sure what this means but I guess the booklet?). Still no new date for general release, but they're taking info from people who already bought it on pre-sale for replacements.

They've also removed the tracklist from their page for the album, and the tracklist printed in the booklet is different from what it was, so there appears to be some trouble there (this may explain the track number confusion in my first post about the problem).

What was on the site for tracks 3.09~18 was this:
Quote:
09 Law <
But what's in the booklet is this:
Quote:

Updated the release date per this info:

発売日:2018年6月14日(木)
タイトル:真・女神転生if... オリジナルサウンドコレクション
定価: 3,780円 (税前 3,500円)
ジャンル:ゲームミュージック
仕様: 音楽CD3枚組
製品番号:SRIN-1131

Also, the tracklist on the site is no longer there, so perhaps they also realized an issue with that, CHz.

A new notice went up detailing errors in the original tracklist and presumably, how to get a replacement CD if you purchased it prior to them catching the error.

The fixes are: the titles of tracks 1.13, 2.13, 3.21, and 3.24~27 were changed, and track 3.14 now doesn't fade out before looping.

I notice that they didn't list any of the tracks that I mentioned earlier were different in the booklet from what the website said, so it seems like they're correct in the booklet and the site was incorrect (which is why they scrubbed it).

Thanks much CHz for making the fixes.

I just got hold of this and added track times.

Anyone feeling up to English translation? I could try to tackle it and do a half-decent job, but I imagine others on the forum could probably do better. And SMT deserves better.

Aren't most of the tracks from Shin Megami Tensei I & II so their translations are already on site, seems that the only ones needing translations are those two earlier Hanamachi ones?

oh yes, good ol' Hanamachi double-meaning. I think you're right about that.

I'll parse through the I&II OSTs and put together the English tracklist tomorrow or Saturday. I might just leave Hanamachi in romaji for the English translation, since it's kind of a technical term regarding the staging of Japanese theater.

There's an SMT 25th anniversary sticker on the bottom corner of the sealed package, which makes me think that this was released way behind schedule aside from the printing delay/recall. Maybe they were planning a bunch of releases/re-releases last year but consolidated some of them into the limited edition of Deep Strange Journey?

You were right for everything:

>Missed this one because of Breath of the Wild
>Find this one later while listening to my "Shin Megami Tensei Rare Soundtrack & Memorial Arrangetacks CDP-02890~5" and really enjoyed "DARK TEMPLE" track then looked for more Tsukasa Masuko releases on VGMDB
