Since the soundtrack is announced before the game, it means we will hear about it very soon (this week?) and it's not a major title (mobile game ahoy!).

This is probably where the remix from X'mas Collections II came from, too.

yea, this is most likely the game that Shimomura's track from X'mas Collections II alluded too.

Surprise! It's a phone game.

Anyone want some pitchforks and torches? I'm gonna get an appointment to march on Squeenix's offices sometime next week. They have a huge line formed already.

I thought Dawn of Mana was pretty fun, actually. Never played any of the handheld ones though (I know there's Sword and Children, can't think of any others). I have vague memories of Legend being kind of weird.

Are any of these mobile games fun though? I know there are FF7 games up the wazoo, I just never considered playing any of them.

Mobile games are popular in Japan, so...

They have just announced it officially:

Sekito put aside, I think the other composers are just credited because the game will use their original compositions for previous Mana titles. This is probably going to be arranged by in-house Square Enix composers. Apart from Sekito, Yasuhiro Yamanaka has been tweeting about this, so I guess he is involved.

Chaos Rings was eventually released on PlayStation Mobile and so became playable on Vita, so who knows, maybe they will do that more and more in the future.

sample 2 on official site sounds like kikuta, but it's not a track I can remember from any seiken he composed

Oh yeah, sample 2 is obviously Kikuta. And I'm sure Shimomura did sample 1.

But these guest appearances are getting annoying. Why can't developers just hire one composer and be done with it?

There's a sample at the end of the trailer, have you listened to it?

Thanks, it's OK I guess. Nothing special though.

With respect to singing style it reminds me a bit of 調和 oto〜with reflection〜 from Gin-iro no Kami no Agito.

I'm always down for a new primarily-Sekito soundtrack. I think he's done a good job lately. But, although not unprecedented, it's rather pricy for a one-disc album. Not exactly competitive with practically all two-disc albums which cost just slightly more.

Har har har, I'm laughing all the way to the Amazon Japan checkout line, where this thing is nowhere to be found.

Just a waste, Kikuta embodies the whole Mana sound in his style. I was never big on Sekito's series contributions (Ito was okay for the Gameboy entries).

Yeah that sucks. No disrespect to the other composers, but I just lost interest.

I agree, it's a bit dissapointing, same for Shimomura and Ito. These three composers could have made the "ultimate" Mana-soundtrack together. But maybe it's not much of a loss in this case. Since it's only one disc it seems a rather short soundtrack compared to others on bigger consoles, so there's probably not much they could have done either way. Not the biggest fan of Sekito, but we'll see. I'm still interested to find out how this new Mana-entry will sound. Just judgin from the tracklist, at least Ito's Rising Sun-theme will make an appearance although I sure would have loved to see Kikuta's theme back as well.

big thanks to zero676 for the nice packaging scans.

As the average star-rating suggests ... this album sure feels like a disappointment after first listen. I LIKE the good stuff (KOKIA, the three big artists' individual tracks). I just want more of the good stuff and none of the filler.

DUBBLE POST -- more scans to make though. I hit the obi, and then there's a paper cut out in the shape of a second disc. It has a promotional code on it ... I THINK it applies to the game itself (Japan-only) ... not sure how to redeem it. If it is music-related, someone translating it would be cool. I'll have it up in about 10 minutes.

EDIT - done. I put them in as "card" and "card (reverse)"

you must download the game from the appstore and apply the serial code by selecting the login option for the serial codes
it doesn't say what it does, if it's the whole game or a sort of demo

The download code is for an in game thing, it's not a game or a demo.

Well, I don't have a Japanese-friendly GooglePlay or iOS account. So if anyone DOES and already owns Rise of Mana and wants my code to see what happens, just PM me and I'll send it your way. ^^

Thanks Phono and dancey for the help.
