Default Video Game Melodies Used in Other Songs

I happen to be browsing Bandcamp today and I came across a song that had a familiar melody. The song is called ...All We Got Is Us... and you can clearly hear that the melody is from the Shenmue Soundtrack.

So this got me to wonder what other songs use some sort of video game melody?

If you know of any, I'd like to hear about em.

What is "the box" that people are supposed to think outside of anyway? Hmm. Maybe it's similar to the Borg from Star Trek who dwelled as a collective hive-mind within a...box/cube. Those that deviated from this hive-mind would, in effect, be thinking outside of the box. it has both a figurative and a literal meaning.

Yeah, rap/hiphop/R&B and their derivative genres are partly defined by generous sampling of other artists' recordings. It's just kind of a characteristic of the genre. I'm sure many people here remember that terrible song that samples Sara's theme from Chrono Trigger.

Yup! I know all to well what you mean. I guess that, since I'm a VGM fan, it was more interesting for me to hear music from video games used in other songs. I'm just wondering how often it's done.

Atleast this Chrono Cross sampling one isn't too terrible.

How about when Rick Astley stole Robo's theme from Chrono Trigger?

Or when Mozart ripped off Nobuo Uematsu for his Piano Sonata no. 11 in A major. How shameful.

Those short piano practice pieces from FFV, probably. But I think the point is the chrono-logical discrepancy in your post. :-1

Kayem & El Grekoz - Dance Like a Hedgehog
a hardstyle song heavily samples the Ice Cap Zone theme from Sonic 3 & Knuckles
