Is there a way to search unlinked artists?

There seems to be a thread that is dedicated to alerting those who have the authority to link an artist to an album here.

While that's all well and good is there simply no way for people to find albums that an artist isn't linked too? I can imagine there is a good reason for this current system since the site likes to keep trusted/correct information but it kind of bugs me that some of these artists works can go unknown for a decent amount of time before they show up here. For someone who is a bit of a collection freak it just sucks knowing that there are a bunch of albums I could be missing in the long run.
