I found his Twitter account by Motoaki Furukawa's followers list. I hope someone can find more information in this blog or try to talk with him (I believe he isn't a alias of someone as we were imagining).

Very interesting, especially since he partly reveals which tracks in projects like Castlevania and Tokimeki Memorial were by him (e.g. "Divine Bloodline/乾坤の血族"). akiropito is definitely not Yamaoka and I think his current occupation is something like a gyoseishoshi lawyer or a judicial scrivener (btw, Konami seems to ban their employees from joining another game company within 5 years after quiting, but how could Yamaoka join Grasshopper immediately after leaving Konami? Was there a special deal?)

I wonder if his family name could be Tochiro. Says "あきろぴと(Tochiro)" under his profile information on his blog.

Curiously, the Canadian Copyright Database of all places may have the answer for this guy (go here and search for "contra"). Many of Konami's entries there list the real names of the entire staff, so let's take a look at who is listed for Contra Hard Corps.
Author: Hamada, Hidemi / Horio, Kenichiro / Karasawa, Koichi / Kobayashi, Hiroshi / Kumasaka, Syogo / Miyaoka, Kenji / Nakazato, Nobuya / Shimamura, Shinichiro / Soji, Akira / Suzuki, Kazuya / Takeda, Takashi / Taniguchi, Hirofumi / Yamane, Michiru / Yamaoka, Akira
Removing the known names from the game's credits, we're left with Akira Yamaoka and Akira Soji. The only names left in the staff list are Akiropito and Gajokai. Assuming Akiropito isn't Yamaoka, then we can determine Akiropito is Akira Soji, and Gajokai is Yamaoka.

There's an Akira Souji credited for sound programming on Sega CD Snatcher, as well.

Very interesting, that site sure will come in handy.

A. Souji is also credited in Twin Bee Yahoo for the saturn, the kanji being 荘司 朗 (or 荘 司朗?).

EDIT: in other credits, 荘司 朗 is often credited with Metal Yuhki, Seiya Murai and Jigokugurama Nakamura (I think they were part of the same team), same with akiropito.

That's some very good research there! Thanks for letting us know about this bit of information. Honestly, I never thought anything but a Japanese site would give us the answer to this.

Ok, in the Tokimeki Memorial PC Engine's credits, we have
Quote:
<音楽・効果音> [music-sound effects]
METAL YUHKI
村井 聖夜 [Seiya Murai]
荘 司朗 [probably a typo on the site's part, def. should be 荘司 朗]
SANOPPI
中村 地獄車 [Jigokugurama Nakamura]
Now, in Tokimeki PS/SS OST liner notes, Metal Yuhki, Seiya Murai, Jigokugurama Nakamura, nor/Noritada Matsukawa/松川智禎 (??? Sanoppi and nor have been credited together...) and Akiropito say they did music in the PCE version.

Guess it was staring at us all this time...

(random thought: Souji Taro = Akira Souji + Taro Kudou???)

Haha, no way. I thought the exact same thing yesterday!
Perhaps Taro Kudou is an alias of Akira Souji (or maybe the other way around)...

Well, there's an illustration of (supposedly) the real akiropito on Muzie: http://www.muzie.ne.jp/artist/a050827/
Doesn't look too much like the picture we have of Taro Kudo, but who knows...

Do we all agree that the middle guy here is akiropito, comparing to the illustration? Looks pretty alike! (Definitely the hairstyle at least).

The one on the left is closer if you ask me.

One of those two, for sure.

I added his YouTube channel. I highly presume it's his, it links to his blog and the blog links to the channel. There is some interesting stuff to be found there, like apparently some unused Castlevania: Rondo of Blood tracks which might be worth checking out.
