Re : Video game laser discs
Hi, I am new to the actual forums but have been visiting for many years.
I have some video game laser discs from ponycanyon scitron which I collected many years ago. But, I've decided to put them up on ebay. On the front of VGMdb page it says : Individual album discs -- or tapes -- are now represented in a new media table. This means every piece of media now gets their own catalog number, and you can specify a mix of media formats (such as CD + DVD) for a single album entry. Would you like me to catalogue them here or am I in the wrong section ? It says cassette tape , CD + DVD so maybe you could add LD. They're quite rare and I'm sure they'll be gone in 10 days to some lucky collector. I've also some VGM cd's that I may put up on the market place at a later date. Thanks for any decent replies. m. arcadia |

I think it'd be find to make entries for these. Maybe for now, just use "other" as the media type.

Laserdisc is an analog video media that can contains analog or digital audio (usually on PCM stereo format).

The game music DVDs are mostly live concert footage, others are bonus discs with composer interviews, vocal performances, etc...
While the types of Laserdiscs you're mentioning ARE very cool to watch (I have a few of these Pony Canyon vids on VHS), they are merely game playthrough material (super plays) so it's focused on showing the total game. Thanks for the pictures though, and yes these are quite rare, as the LD versions are less available than the VHS versions. These COULD be linked up with the Products Table, but adding all super play videos (VHS, LD, and DVD) will dilute the database with a couple thousand more entries of generalized gaming products, rather than music products. Of course, this site will likely expand into all that anyways, but I'd rather see that type of mega-expansion happen much later rather than sooner, so we can continue on adding and refining all the music details first.
