I guess someone just noticed it on their own, the relation of Gustav Holst's Jupiter to this rendition of Jupiter...
While it's not mentioned in the booklet, I wonder if people are even required to list/name public domain works when they are used? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3B49N46I39Y 3:07 starts the part that's used. Last edited by Carl; May 4, 2009 at 11:04 AM. |

I think this would be a good example for using the "uncredited artists" feature I suggested on the uservoice site.

Also, I got rhythm is George Gershwin's.
The "uncredited artist" sounds good, and I also think we should keep original composers apart from those that actually worked in the album. Specially with "retired" vgm composers that have their tracks arranged, currently you can't tell apart if they actually worked in the album or it's just their old stuff again. Maybe using the "featured on" would work but I only see it used in doujin albums. |

"Featured on" is actually used in this case to differentiate between "if they actually worked in the album or it's just their old stuff again". Plenty of times the original artist isn't credited on doujin albums, either. But it seems like what you really need is finer specification of an uncredited involvement (reprise? tribute? .... plagiarism?)
You can refer to this entry for precedent -- Bach and Tchaikovsky aren't credited in the booklet either. |

Yes, what Blah said about "featured on" is correct. If we were to get a "credited" field added to the database, then these composers would be both uncredited and featured-on this album.

Dag: nice catch on George Gershwin being here also
Being that both of those guys are featured on a growing number of albums, perhaps it's time to go digging and listen through all their discographies so that we could spot other instances. |

Well, I was thinking of artists like this one, right now it may seem like he actually worked in all these albums, and is considered "featured on" doujins only. So it's ok to mark him in albums like Dissidia as "featured on"? I'm getting a bit confused now...
Also, what about having these "featured on" artist links with a darker/lighter blue? It'd be easier to know at a glance instead of checking every link. |

I assume you mean the links on the album details page. I agree that this would be a good idea. We could use yellow (Promo color) for featured artists, darker blue (Works color) for uncredited artists that actively worked on an album, and orange (Doujin color) for featured and uncredited artists, such as for the Let's Tap Soundtrack.

I wonder if anyone can help me - the melody that starts at about 00:45 on Rainbow Gradation by Ayako Saso remind me of another similar VGM melody - but I can't quite put my finger on it. Usually when this happens, the answer I'm looking for just comes in a couple of days but this is taking looong to come out of the recesses of my mind! So any help would be appreciated!

While the melody isn't exactly the same, I was reminded of the main theme from RIZ-ZOAWD by Michiko Naruke.
