If the two encores are included (and I sure hope they are) then there will also be the Ending Theme from Final Fantasy X (arranged by Masashi Hamauzu) and a Battle Medley from Final Fantasy VII (arranged by Roger Wanamo).
This concert was very impressive, I'm glad they are releasing a CD. |

same thing with Symphonic Fantasies? Digital release only of the Encore tracks?

My favorite is the Chrono Tigger arrangement. It was truly stunning, so I'm glad to see it's being released.
I just hope they don't peak limit as excessively as they did on the Symphonic Fantasies CD, but I don't think I should hope for too much... |

The concert lasted less than 2 hours so, as there are 2 discs, I think everything will be included on this release.

Yeah, seeing these are two discs this time, I also think it will be the complete thing. Looking forward to that, didn't expected it that soon - Symphonic Fantasies took about a year or so to come out, I guess Uematsu set all things in motion immediately after the concert or something. xD
Either way, I thought the concert was great - with all these other concerts playing all the same tracks again and again it's really, really nice that these guys from the WDR handled this very different and very refreshing. |

I am psyched to see this album happen.
Did the Nintendo concert just never get a release? |

Yeah, no release. 100% sure that was Nintendo's decision.

Nintendo always seem to have a tight noose around their music.
Which is really too bad, because that Nintendo concert has some great arrangements. |

Here is a playlist, I am going to add the details for the suites in the notes part. http://www.dogearrecords.com/symphonicodysseys/

Wow, the cover is awesome! Looks like it was done by the same guy who did the cover artwork for the european CD release of Symphonic Fantasies.

By the way, it seems that no western release is planned for the moment. :/

An FF 'concerto'? Neat. I hope it's actually symphonic and not just a strewn together medley.

Well it was arranged for piano and orchestra by Roger Wanamo especially for this concert. Every arrangement in this concert was new anyway, and pretty spectacular, as with the previous concerts in the Symphonic series.
Pretty sure you can find recordings on YouTube if you can't wait until the release. Last edited by Zanasea; Nov 29, 2011 at 01:26 AM. |

Europeans can also order the CD at MAZ Sound Tools (the guys who also brought Symphonic Shades on CD). It's not an own release but an import from Japan directly from Dog Ear Records but for most of us it should be cheaper than importing by oneself.
They ship worldwide so also non-Europeans could order but I don't know how's the yen currently against other currencies. (If you have trouble to navigate through the website just follow the word "Bestellung", the shop itself can be switched into English) |

Where did the individual lyricists and arrangment credits come from, because they're not listed in the inserts? Were they listed in the program for concert-goers?

Ah, I remember seeing that now. I wonder it his could be attached to the cover section by an admin and make an exception for this PDF type. Or it could be hosted on vgmdb.net itself, and linked as part of one of the album links?

How's the sound quality on the album? I was quite disappointed with Symphonic Fantasies (it seemed like I was the only one), and I was wondering if they fixed some of those problems here.

I'm not really qualified to make audiophile judgement calls with my setup + lack of knowledge, but I don't hear anything wrong with the recording. It sounds like it's lower volume than normal, which means I think they didn't normalize it? That's all I can say.

I don't really have an audiophile quality setup myself, but the Symphonic Fantasies disc still sounded like crap to me. If they haven't normalized it, that's a very good sign. Thanks!

Now that I have this, I'll have to say that the sound quality is quite good. Not all of the arrangements are all that great in my opinion, but there are gems in there.
It's quite amusing that the mistranslation of the Chrono Trigger track title got back-translated into Japanese. |

I am pleasantly intrigued to find that King's Knight made an appearance in this programme. Sad discount game. Sadly discounted music.
