Not the worst price I've seen for an SMRPG soundtrack nowadays, actually not bad compared to prices of ¥ 100k and beyond for this album in slightly better condition.

Not nearly as expensive as some of the other CDs listed here recently, but a few months ago I snagged the Ace Combat 2 Original Soundtrack off of Yahoo Auctions for 34,000 yen. Seems to be fairly rare. Not surprising, considering it was a Japan-only special edition goodie. Took me well over a year to stumble upon a copy, and the case was scuffed to heck and back. The CD and everything were in great condition, luckily, but I can't help but wonder what a copy that's virtually pristine would go for.

I don't know, these prices seem to be quite volatile. Another copy of it sold today for less than half and I still have the feeling the price is quite high. Yes, you could argue the other copy was in better condition and had the hagaki included. But still, either way this was a bidding war or the abovementioned auction was shill-bidded. I don't really trust those prices.

The other one was definitely in better condition (basically perfect). I was bidding on that other one (didn’t come close to winning) but I didn’t bid on this one.

Upon further investigation, I think while some are indeed Japanese sellers who are poorly equipped to handle eBay sales (hence the negative feedbacks), I suspect some of them are foreign non-Japanese bot sellers. Some of their English is a bit too good.

Also, if you read the negative feedback comments from any of these types of sellers, a decent amount is about the item being defective/non-working. Being charitable, I'm sure some of them are buyers not being aware of regional differences so it's their own fault for not doing their research.

I'm also sure some of the claims are valid. Think about it. You set up a script to automatically convert Yahoo/Mercari/Rakuten listings into eBay listings. There's absolutely no way to personally confirm the item conditions of 1000s of items (and in some cases, tens of thousands). Hence the negative feedbacks about non-communications from sellers.

And your script probably can't differentiate between junk/non-working items and used/working items. So what ends up happening is defective items being sold as working. So there will be the inevitable refund which I assume will just be considered a "cost of doing business".

This record (likely this exact copy) just sold for ¥300,000 last month. We're speculating that the winner of that auction regrets spending so much and is trying to unload it for a similar amount.

Here's the completed aution listing for that one:

I'd say this one won't hold it's value anytime soon. Considering the 10% Yahoo sales fee, the seller will take a big hit anyway. A realistic price would be around the 150k Yen mark imo.

Either way, I find it highly insulting to sell something at such a price without more detailed photos of every part of the set, and photos of any defects, even small ones that are hard to see without the right lighting/angle.

I make more detailed photos for my 10$ PS3 sales.

137k Yen for a SMB3 LP. Not as much as I would have expected but still a solid price.

Another expensive CD. Well known composer, quite rare and in complete condition (though the obi looks a little damaged but maybe it's just the pictures).

51,000 Yen for Star Command

I know it's not going to sell, but the fact that someone has a face thick enough on Yahoo is sad enough. When Yahoo turns into eBay, well, sad sad.

Whenever I buy new VGM factory sealed I never open it and find it online and download FLAC or MP3 files. I wrap it in shrink wrap, second layer of wrapping paper, and third layer of aluminium foil. Just wait long enough over several decades and these albums WILL increase in value significantly. I mean a sealed copy of the original NES Legend of Zelda and Super Mario Brothers both sold a while ago for around US $1,000,000. Keep these things long enough and preserve in their original state and my great grandchildren will be multimillionaire...

Over the last few years, there are more and more bootlegs showing up on YJA. It's still not nearly as bad as eBay was in the late '90s and early '00s when Taiwanese bootlegs were everywhere.

The place I see this most is with PC Engine games. 90%+ of the rare PCE games that show up on YJA are PCE Works reproductions.

Because of market manipulation that artifically drove the prices up, yes.

So you waited more than a decade to finally come to that kind of conclusion? Must be pretty valueable now I guess

A copy of Dragon Quest Special just sold for 72,000 yen, without obi:

https://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp...on/o1060768531

It is a pretty rare album, but I was surprised at the price.

tbh a lot of these are just impassioned bidding wars between people with way too much disposable income and once the same item pops up again it often doesn't go for anywhere close to the same amount.
