There are probably some more arrangements here and there I'm not sure about, in particular:
1.16: Seasons Change/Utsuriyuku Kisetsu
1.17: New Dawn/Arata na Yoake
1.22: A Quiet Voice/Shizuka naru Koe
2.18,20?,21 and 22 all sound like Excalibur in some parts, so they're at least heavily inspired by it

M2.23 "The Girl Must Become a Star" is actually a Kato's arrangement of the OP.

It's in the first line of the notes:

except M-2.23, an arrangement of the opening theme "starlog" composed by Sin Kawamoto
I've recently rewatched the anime and relistened to this so I've updated the notes a bit. I'm still not convinced about M-2.20 so I've left that out.

Sorry for the late reply, but LOL you did the opposite of what you should've done XD M-2.20 is the only Excalibur arrangement. I know most people think those tracks are arrangements of Excalibur (by this logic, almost the entire soundtrack is a remix, because somehow it reference some "hints" from fsn themes), but arranging/remixing is not the same as composing using references from other tracks as base.

M-2.21 and M-2.22 are composed over a similar chord progression, but the melody (and its development) are totally different. Then you can tell the difference of these tracks and Kawai's version, Kajiura's. The main melody keeps intact (truly arrangements).

M-2.18 has less from Excalibur than the others. It's also worth mentioning that this track has a variation of a motif from Kato's repertoire.

On the other hand, M-2.20 while adding original content and skipping part B of Excalibur, it keeps the melody from part A intact and more recognizable.

I hope this helps a little bit.

Thanks for the correction, although I still feel it should be mentioned in the notes (even if in a different way) as they heavily reference the original song, especially 21 and 22, even if they're not direct arrangements.

I don't know how you guys (vgmdb staff) deal with these type of situations, but as I said before, references of Excalibur and EMIYA (especially this one) are all over the place in this soundtrack (it's not a new concept to work on a score this way tho), but it's very probable as well that this is product of Kato's opportunism XD

Off the top of my head I don't remember any example of this in the db to reference, but I think in this case it's fine since we're still talking about a spinoff of the original product and not something completely different with a random reference that might even be inaccurate, so I would make another section in the notes and mention the references.
