Default So who do we expect the other FF16 composers are? (UPDATE: confirmed sound staff)

I heard about three tracks during that most recent trailer that I suspect are not by Soken. Speculate away.

UPDATE: confirmed composers/arranger from staff roll.

The music of the first trailer gave off some serious Final Fantasy Type-0 vibes, so I wouldn't be surprised if Takeharu Ishimoto was involved somehow.

Since the former Capcom DMC5 designer is the battle director, plus the fact that former DMC composer Tetsuya Shibata worked heavily on FF15, what do we feel the odds are that Unique Note is coming back for FF16? It almost seems too obvious not to happen.

And Ishimoto hasn't been credited for much recently, right? He's got to be doing something.

Demo music isn't great.

I can't believe how much is synth, but that was the exact concern I had considering how even up through Endwalker there was seemingly no effort or even interest in recording live parts--even while other SE properties, including remasters of old games, got plenty of live recording love.

Overall you've got a passable but plain Prelude arrangement for the opening war scene, a cliche and dully-orchestrated "Rosaria Theme" sounding like it's been lifted straight out of FF14, a monotonous field BGM for the swamp area (synth instruments are really poorly realized here, it just sounds bad), a few unmemorably bombastic boss themes, a trope-laden melodramatic orchestral cue during a scene with Joshua and Clive having a heart to heart which really doesn't fit the mood (again with really bad synth), and a few other boring event/cutscene cues that aren't even worth commenting on.

The game is visually spectacular in its boss battles, as everyone was expecting. And the story and scenes are presented and directed well.
But this OST isn't off to a good start.

This game, with this type of story, setting and style.. begged for an H.Sakimoto soundtrack. I'm afraid you may be in the right Jormungand.
Let's be proven wrong with a couple genius tracks, I hope.

Yeah, the demo music sounds terrible, synthy and derivative. I don't understand how lower budget games like Octopath Traveler get plenty of live recordings while the flagship series relies so heavily on samples. It really cheapens the game.

Spoiler:
I've just watch the credits: It's the actual FFXIV sound team, no guests...

I suspect there will be plenty of bad Yoshitaka Suzuki "orchestrations" on the soundtrack, unfortunately.

Nothing in the demo is on the level of the good XIV material to me, on another note.

It's odd that Sachiko Miyano is only credited as a copyist for this game, and not as an orchestrator

EDIT:
