Phono dude why did you choose to 'display only as a subentry' whole freakin' Walt Disney Records?

I don't even know what it is or even how it can be selected
I just added it as imprint before changing, blame the automatism of the site instead of accusing me of things I didn't do

Well I believe you if you say so, although it never happened to me when adding label/imprint (subentry option was never turned on by default).
I was just surprised to see such huge a** company as a subentry.

edit - o yea if you've added it from avex group page, then it's 100% possible...

Well if it is checked, it removes the label/company/whatever from browse labels page so it's only visible at a subentry level of another label/company (also on labels page).
So let's say you got 'Serious Company' and 'Less Serious Company' as subsidiary - normally you would have the L company listed at two places: under the first company at S part of the list and in L part of the list respectively, but if you choose subentry for L company, it will disappear from L list and it'll be clickable only under S company in the S part of the list.

Useful for regional/country branches of the same company so they don't appear twice (as for Nintendo - France, America, Europe branches are selected only as subentries).

this is the option

I was knowing the option, already saw in the label edit page, just didn't know its use
sorry but I find it a bit confusing, you could use examples?

because I saw that nintendo thing, and I don't see the difference with unchecked option labels

It does work like the described 'hiding' e.g. Mellow Head (for screwing around purposes only lol) with the option unchecked
http://img35.imageshack.us/img35/360...0509175826.png
and checked (no longer there)
http://img600.imageshack.us/img600/2...0509180034.png
but the exact cases when it should be used, I honestly don't know about 'em (maybe not so well documented? ...or I overlooked it). As you see I only know what it does.

Oh, that's cool, it's certainly not your fault I wasn't on IRC so the knowledge stays... in the IRC logs XD

In other words, if SS told you some new details, will you share 'em?

Thanks
This was actually a great reminder that I've done similar thing for Colosseum Schallplatten (used the subentry checkbox... and very likely the only time I used it so far), it was a simple name change... no ownership change/merging/splitting or anything like that...
Thx again P

Still, isn't there some formal guideline about this I'm missing......

the only guideline I know is http://vgmdb.net/forums/showthread.php?t=271
and it's sort of incomplete, and it lacks of things

Yeah, sure I know about that one. Doesn't help answering this specific question. Oh well, nevermind, can't say this is a vital question heh.
