This album got over 1500 views in the last 24 hours, catapulting it from nowhere to become the most viewed album of all time on VGMdb by a wide margin. |

lawl~ Maybe the film music community knows about this album? Harry Gregson-Williams (a film music composer) does score a good chunk of the music, after all.
The love theme was arranged and used in Brawl, too. |

Looking at the # of refbacks, my guess is some popular Japanese site ran with it, then a bunch of others quoted the same news with the link. I'd be interested in seeing who linked it.

Actually, it's linked on pretty much every Metal Gear Solid fansite all across North America, South America, and Europe.

Is it really that surprising though? I've noticed just about every new release added here gets hundreds of page hits. It really shows how such a organized site like this serves the community well.

While we've had a few entries which have generated large amounts of hits in short periods of time, we haven't seen anything of this magnitude yet. Pretty amazing really, both the number of views and refbacks.

You can now click on "refbacks" to get a list of all the domains and URLs that linked to an album page. It's all AJAX and Web 2.0 (!!!!) and this is literally the first time I've scripted anything like it so I hope you guys can help test it out.

Hmm, it doesn't work for me so far, on either Firefox or IE. The little waiting thing spins, and then nothing.
EDIT - working now. |

Try shift+refresh the page to update the javascript files.
Also, I fixed a bug where the hit counters for linkbacks pending approval weren't being updated. This means that most of the linkback hits are underestimated right now. |

Good stuff, Blah. I'm gonna have a field day with this now.

For some reason the official Konami page left 2-17 ("Here's To You" by Ennio Morricone / Lisbeth Scott) out of the tracklisting...

Apparently Norihiko Hibino co-composed "Everything Ends" with Takahiro Izutani. "Here's To You" was arranged by Harry Gregson-Williams. It'd be nice to have some scans, though.

All new information taken from the soundtrack booklet. Includes lyricist information, song composers, Hibino credit, source of bonus tracks, and additional roles for Fujimori and Suzuki.

When are we going to have scans of the booklet?

Is the notes section not enough for you?
|

If the note section is enough, then why do you have scans for many other albums here on vgmdb? Why don't you take'em all down, as they seem to be a waste of server-HDD space & bandwidth?..... |

The correct question to ask might be "How can I contribute to this great resource?", and the answer to that could be to buy the album, make a set of scans, and provide them here. That's how we get a great deal of our scans.
I'm not trying to pile on you for asking the question. To be honest, I'd be a bit concerned if we had these scans up, considering how popular this album became in a short period of time. It might be safer to let someone else take the initial load. |

Am I mistaken, or are you demanding scans? I take a very dim view of this "gimme" attitude. Our resources are contributed by members in their own time and effort. The least you could do is to be polite in your requests.

Hi there, here's the next post in the "How do you write it in kanji ?" series !
Akihiro Honda : 本田晃弘 Nobuko Toda : 戸田信子 Shuichi Kobori : 池田秀一 Those are easily confirmed, a search along the line of "kanji name Metal Gear" yields results... As for the others (Kazuma Jinnouchi, Yoshitaka Suzuki and Takahiro Izutani), I couldn't find anything. Well, to be completely honest, I looked for like an hour to try and find Kazuma Jinnouchi, but I'm getting too tired to search for the remaining two, so maybe they're easier, I don't know. I hope someone find out soon-ish, though ^^ |

Shuichi Kobori is actually 小堀修一.
http://www.konami.jp/kojima_pro/twohan/02.html You can see Kazuma Jinnouchi's kanji name in the arrangement credits (陣内一真). Still working on the other two. There are actually two prominent people who share the name 戸田信子, this is the wikipedia article for the composer (the other is a newscaster). |

Duh, silly me, I copy-pasted the wrong one, thanks for noticing ^^ I should have seen that, there is no "da" (田) in Kobori...
And good job with Kazuma Jinnouchi! |

Why is Yoshitaka Suzuki listed as arranger, according to liners, he didn't arrange anything.
And scanning this booklet will be bit annoying, you can bit see-through the pages. Oh well, gotta try it later this week unless someone else beats me to it. |

Removed him from arranger field. I'm wondering if Nobuko Toda should be listed as arranger, since she orchestrated track 2 of disc 1. (Arranging for orchestra...?)
|

Well, I would myself treat Noda as arranger, as I do with other people who mengle with orchestrating, like Hamaguchi in Final Fantasy-soundtracks.

Concerning Suzuki, he could have arranged "Everything Begins". It is 'Music by Nobuko Toda x Shuichi Kobori x Kazuma Jinnouchi / Yoshitaka Suzuki (GEM Impact Inc.)' (note that it was listed as Yoshitaka Izutani before for some reason). I agree it is ambiguous like a lot of the credits, so best left out.
Another note: Ennio Morricone composed "Here's For You" and Joan Baez wrote the lyrics. Might not say so in the liner notes, but I think the designation ought to be explicit. Also, it's Toda not Noda. |

Hi everyone, as you might have already seen I uploaded some scans for the ost (Credited the author: switchfreak, of course), hope my little contribution is appreciated.

So checking out the biggest refback last week, I finally realized why this entry got so many hits: the track titles were spoilers for the game. :-D

I added Yoshitaka Suzuki back and Takahiro Izutani in to the arranger list based on this interview. Not too sure whether Takahide Ayuzawa, Norihiko Hibino, and DJ Uraken should be there too.

tracks 19, 21, 23(?), 25 and 27 of the 2nd cd start with the end of their previous track or it's an audio mirage?
(I didn't pay attention to tracks of cd1 and before 19) |
