I can not find information about a Taito game called 'Side Effect'.
My suspicion is that 'Side Effect' might be 'Racing Beat'. Here is a link I found: http://www.arcade-museum.com/game_de...p?game_id=9229 The type of music that plays on this CD sounds like one would expect from a game called 'Racing Beat'. Also, here is another piece of related information: http://www.digitpress.com/forum/showthread.php?p=983144 Also, one is limited to racing games made in 1991 or prior to 1991, and Racing Beat fits that requirement. And, my reason for editing the tracklist... I used the same track title (Ride the Pelican! Everyone Friends!!) from Liquid Kids (Mizu Baku Great Adventure) that is posted for PCCB-00052. I did not change Side Effect to Racing Beat, because I'm not sure if it's correct. Last edited by Jodo Kast; Jan 29, 2011 at 01:07 PM. |

I think better scans should solve the problem.
That mysterious game is the one on bottom-middle on the back cover. I really can't read the Japanese title though Also, this picture probably shows a part of the liner notes.. so i guess it's the composers of the album Last edited by Myrkul; Jan 29, 2011 at 02:22 PM. |

Better scans might solve the problem. I had already scanned this album, years ago, at a time when 350 x 350 was "pretty big".
There's always the option of finding a way to play the arcade game (Racing Beat) and comparing the music in the game to what's on this disc. I'm not going to do that, though. This album is kind of a "stinker", a low point in Zuntata arranged music. The fact that I never questioned "Side Effect" until now ought to show how much I have thought about this music. The pitiful nature of this album might explain why G.S.M. Taito 7 is so good. |

There are some composer/arranger credits given here: http://www.eonet.ne.jp/~nantoca/scitron/gsm_taito6.htm
Don't know if they are correct though, but they might come from the booklet. Quote:

Most of the OST tracks are the same as what I have on the L'ab Normal albums. As a mini-greatest hits album, it's passable. As an arrange...bottom of the barrel. This is one that can stay obscure for a LONG time. |

Based on some brief mentions in JP, it looks like a 1991 horizontal shooting game that may have never been released. The song "Notification" also doesn't appear in Racing Beat. Last edited by CHz; Sep 25, 2014 at 11:25 AM. |

You got your answer before I noticed this thread again. For the most part, the G.S.M. albums by Taito are not that great (I think only Taito 7 is really good). Both Capcom and Sega released the most polished of the G.S.M. albums, with Capcom slightly edging out Sega.

I'm a fan of Taito GSM 4. Decent arranges and Darius II/Nightstriker. It's always been a listening staple. And I lucked into a copy of 7 awhile back and that one is solid as well.
I'll probably hold onto 6 to pad my collection with an obscure Zuntata album, but definitely not for the music. |

Scans added, the game in question is called Side Effect.
And I like the album quite a bit. Sure, it's no Ninja Warriors or Metal Black but it isn't as bad as you guys want me to think it is |

I've corrected the composer credit of the fifth track. "Let's be Friends! We're all Friends!!" actually is composed by Kazuko Umino.
