would somebody like to buy this?
as a gift? for me? Seriously, I can only afford so many giant boxes of music per decade. But y'all know this one is delicioso. |

It doesn't matter that I already have most of this music. This most definitely warrants a purchase.

Yes, box sets are a weakness of all collectors.
Love these kinds of things... Especially with exclusive MSX goodness. |

I'm really looking forward to this one as well. The whole thing sounds great, but I'm really excited about the missing tracks from Symphony of the Night. The SaGa box set put my savings back a little bit, but I think I'm going to have to splurge on this one too.

This is not going to be sold through Konamistyle?

According to Kotaku, this one will span 19 (yes, NINETEEN) discs. Holy crap.

Good Lord, that's quite a monster coming right at us. Guess it's time I join the huge boxset bandwagon.
I really hope it's not a Konamistyle exclusive, as that would render the fact they're "reprinting" the Ecclesia soundtrack pretty useless and redundant.

Are they? Then people who spent 10,000+ JPY on it won't be happy.
BTW not sure 12$ a disc is really that much of a steal but still acceptable! |

In case anyone doesn't snoop around the Konamistyle website, here's an all-in-one collection of all the new Castlevania releases, including the two new radio dramas.

Figures, I just ordered the Judgement soundtrack a few weeks ago.
Disappointing that it doesn't have more arranged stuff, like the Dracula Battle tracks. Also wondering how complete it is if some of the two-disc sets are seemingly condensed down to one? (like Curse of Darkness) |

This is the box I was waiting for, JPY 21000 = € 160, cheap for such great albums.

Agreed. Order of Ecclesia had a 2-disc OST, and there's only one disc here. If they simply remove some of the looping, I can live with that, but if they omit any tracks, it would be very sad.

Isn't Dracula: The Medal the pachinko game?
Also: No Dracula X SNES tracks ;_; |

Technically, it's not a pachinko, but as 'Slot Machine' also covers a medal game, I think 'Arcade' isn't the best fit for this game (and for some games like Dragon Treasure and Black Jack).
They haven't, apparently. |

This looks like a wasted opportunity to me. Or in the worst case a rushed job.
Even with a 17 disc set, there are still several games which were never granted a soundtrack on cd: Simon's Quest (NES version) Boku Dracula-kun (GB version) Akumajo Dracula XX Akumajo Dracula Mokushiroku Gaiden Not to mention that there are several games whose soundtrack in on two cds, but has been reduced to just one disc here (Lament of Innocence, Curse of Darkness, Ubawareta Kokuin, and the variant versions of X68k and Gallery of Labyrinth). I suppose it's possibile to combine, for example, the rondo of blood OST and the X68000 OST into one cd, but it will be hardly the same quality of say the DXC OST that uses nearly sixty minutes (an entire disc) just for Rondo. All considered these negative points seem to weight over the positive of having an official release for the saturn tracks, the MSX2 port and the GB Legends... Come to think to it, the biggest regret is that Masahiko Kimura's score for XX is missing. XX has some awesome arrangements of Rondo and even some interesting original tunes (map, gameover etc.) and it should really deserve to be on CD. Much more than the awful Shikkokutaru Zensoukyoku. Kimura is also a staple composer for the series, having worked on Mokushiroku and Sougetsu...
Anyone here with a basic knowledge of Japanese should write to Konami asking to correct this flaw while they still can! |

The soundtest also has some official titles for the music. Although, I have the suspicion Konami will use all new names in this soundtrack. |

You know, I'm beginning to think that if that "Best Music" in the name would be literal, it would be better...
Let's face it, there is no way they can cram all the tunes for many games into a single CD. I mean, take SOTN: one of my favorite scores ever, and yet I have barely touched the OST. Why? Because tracks were too short - SOTN would have needed a two disc set. Now they're going to put the PS OST and the SS tracks into the same disc? Yeah, right. |

Good Job. Do we know who exactly composed originally Sandfall and In search of the secret spell? (See Gallery of Labyrinth discussion thread).

Also, Tomoya Tomita is credited for sound director and sound effects in both the N64 games, and sound producer in Circle of the Moon.

Also, you're missing one composer in Dracula's Curse: H. Maezawa (Hidenori).
More about him here: http://truechiptilldeath.com/2009/01...enori-maezawa/ Also, for reference: http://www.vgmuseum.com/mrp/NewCV/cvlib-credits.htm (The credits are slightly different and I don't remember anymore why, but it's possible that these are for Akumajo Densetsu - the difference is relevant because in drac's curse Maezawa is listed under special thanks, not sound. And Y. Sasaki is nowhere to be found. Probably Sasaki was the one responsible for converting the soundtrack to plain NES carts without VRC6.) Last edited by The Gambler; Jan 8, 2010 at 01:26 AM. |

Are the Portrait of Ruin tracks from King's Valley 1 or 2?
If it's from 2, then here are the credits: http://www.vgmuseum.com/end/msx/a/kv2.htm Part 1 doesn't show any credits. But it's probably the same people. |
