Default RPGFan Music Podcast

Hey there folks. Sorry to sound like a shill, but I figured I'm among fellow VGM-lovers here. I'm the head of the music section at RPGFan right now, and we started a music podcast a few months back. We talk about albums we've recently reviewed (and play some music from them) and then we have a specific topic we talk about/listen to in the second section of the show (we've done Dreamcast music, world map themes (volume 1), and a two-part Phantasy Star retrospective).

Our *starry-eyed idealistic* goal is to spread the love of VGM to people who may not necessarily have had it before. I also make it my personal mission on the show to introduce people to VGM they may not have listened to otherwise, because damn that's fun.

If anyone is interested in listening, you can totally check it out here:

http://www.rpgfan.com/rhythm_encounter.html

Or on the iTunes-o-sphere https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/...er/id608154322

Every episode after 1 contains an embedded link to a page with a full tracklist and links to where you can buy the music, if possible.

Again, sorry to sound like a shill, but I figure some of you all might enjoy the show! If you have feedback or ideas, please do let us know!

I wholly support this endeavor. Golden Sun is awesome. AND THAT SONG IS STILL AWESOME, NO MATTER WHAT THEY SAY.

EDIT:

Also, thanks for listening

I've been listening to the music of Golden Sun in MIDI form since the game was still recent but never played the game, so I was all giddy when I heard it.

I was disappointed in that consensus. I thought the music was compositionally very well done. Although it does sound somewhat stifled, but that's due to the GBA sound.

Anyway, I have a GBA so...

I agree-- I actually don't think it suffered due to the hardware-- I think that's part of its charm. Still, things would be boring if we all agreed all the time on the show. Maybe if everyone just agreed with ME all the time... now we're talking

And thanks for listening! Glad you dug the GS tune as well-- we'll have more from that series OH YES INDEED.

Hey guys, just wanted to let you know that the show has been updated. Episode 5 features all kinds of Ivalice music, and Casey Ormond (the arranger/performer) of the Final Fantasy XII Piano album and the Valkyria Chronicles Piano Pieces is our guest star!

Glad to have discovered this podcast. Interesting music selections, with commentary that puts the music into context. Nice!

My favorite summer tunes come from Battle Network 2! (does that count as an RPG?)

Most specifically ACDC town. (yay! another town theme)

Marine Harbor

Umm...

Mint chocolate chip ice cream is the bees' knees?

Battle Network is awesome and absolutely counts!

Thanks for the tracks-- I love the music from those games.

Also, it's funny you should say that, I too love mint chocolate chip. I'll be sure Derek gets the message

"You're plucking it wrong!"

Funny, I was tweezing my nose hair when I heard that.

Edit: Also loved the Lufia 2 Boss music pick.
