interesting... seems like Sega really liked what Sumo Digital did with the game. a Japanese PS3 release was recently announced too (seems like this ties in with that, actually)

I see.
Sumo did a great job imho, they well deserved a JP release (finally). |

If the original's from Jacques in Sonic & SEGA All-Stars Racing are included (bonus tracks?) it'd be worth it. The menu songs in the first game where much better than the sequel.

Supposedly the soundtrack is only going to be a small selection of 18 songs and a bonus track as a preorder bonus to the Japanese release of Sonic & Sega All-Stars Racing Transformed. I'm curious as to why this is two CDs, and what the actual source is on this.

it's just the bonus soundtrack enclosed with the game not this release
bonus cds have generally less tracks than real soundtracks |

Edit: Never mind.

The tracklist is not complete (there will be 68 tracks according to 4gamer.net) so I put what we have for the moment, with "others" (他) from the 12th track of each disc. Should I remove the tracklist as long as we don't have it entirely?

It's not usual to put incomplete tracklists.
You can use the notes for what is currently known or forum posts (maybe better). Either way: Spoiler:

Tracklist and album scans added. Dear god, this was THE most annoying case I've ever had the misfortune of trying to open to get at the inner cards.

Probably OK to mention it's also available digitally through Amazon (and iTunes) as two "volumes" which are exact Disc 1 & 2 counterparts. Don't think it's needed to make separate entries though.

Track 34 on disc 2 is from All-Stars Racing, so it's represented there.

It's weird how they combined certain intros with their medleys.

Wait a sec, I thought "Idaten" was composed by Morihiko Akiyama. Is the booklet wrong, or is Sega Retro wrong?

When has Wave Master ever gotten their credits wrong? Sega Retro is user submitted, and I can't think of where they'd have gotten the info that Akiyama did Idaten.

I'd personally trust an album over something unsourced on Sega Retro any day of the week.
I did a really cursory search and couldn't immediately find anything implicating Akiyama for "IDATEN," including the liner notes of that Shinobi compilation album. |

I looked at the revision history, and it was actually you who added it in about three years ago.

Somebody must have told me they got it directly from the composer, then. I'll remove it regardless.
EDIT: Nevermind, beat me too it. |

I wasn't able to get CDDB matches for the soundtrack via EAC, so I've updated the track times for both discs to match EAC's output.

Unfeatured all the artists whose music was reused from the original games for the returning courses. I also did that for Keiichi Sugiyama since I think the booklet might be in error. Sugiyama was credited with arrangement of the next track on WM-0518~9, whereas I've never elsewhere seen him associated with SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 4.

Yes, sorry! Thanks for the link.
Somehow, I never manage to find albums with keywords when I need to. |
