It seems the music Saori Kobayashi composed for this game is not totally lost:

Crimson Dragon Side Story (2012 - Windows Phone):

Saori Kobayashi: I don’t think the Hollywoodization of the soundtrack was a bad thing in and of itself. I just felt it was a bit unfortunate that the music I had managed to prepare for the original version before its initial release ended up not being used. When Crimson Dragon became an Xbox One title, the project underwent some changes in scale, and the final product ended up with varying opinions from fans. I’d absolutely love to be able to release my original version of the soundtrack if there is demand for it from the fans.

For Crimson Dragon: Side Story, actually I ended up personally going through the songs in the game and making new mixes for them. I’d absolutely love to be able to release the soundtrack if there is demand for it from the fans.

Saori Kobayashi has a solo album, "Terra Magica", coming out on 4/13:

No catalogue # yet, or indication if it's physical or digital only. Just spreading the word.

She's doing it through Brave Wave, so it'll probably be released worldwide digitally through Bandcamp: http://www.bravewave.net/blog/2015/a...g-terra-magica. She says the album jacket's going to be done by Panzer Dragoon designer Manabu Kusunoki so it sounds like there will be physical copies.

Additional info from the blog post:
Guest remixers: Michiru Yamane, Takahiro Izutani
Guest vocals: Eri Itoh
Chorus: Yumiko Takahashi

Neat that we have a release date!

Looking forward to the contributions by Itoh, she hasn't been doing much lately in this area, so it's good to see her back in action.

While Panzer Dragoon: Remake is already available to download via the Nintendo eShop, the orchestrated OST is not yet part of the package. In a future update, player will be able to download the orchestrated version of the soundtrack. This news came from the official Panzer Dragoon: Remake Twitter.

Right now, only the original OST is available to select when playing the remake. However, the developers said that the new orchestrated soundtrack by Saori Kobayashi will be added as soon as possible. It was also confirmed that this new OST will be included on the physical cartridge to those who purchased it. If you’ve purchased or are interested in the Panzer Dragoon: Remake, you can find official patch updates via the developer’s community Discord.
What what what what what??!

WHAT?!

I can't even express the thoughts I'm having with words alone. Where did this even come from? I literally hoped for this exact thing to happen. For Kobayashi to handle Remake #1, even though she had nothing to do with the original. Of course the term "orchestrated" has lost its meaning in media print, what they likely mean is "arranged". An actual orchestration by Kobayashi would be insane and amazing (because she's actually quite excellent at orchestral composition). But it doesn't even matter. She was the best person to be put in charge of this, suggesting that further remakes down the line will attempt to involve her. Imagine ORTA-style remixes of ZWEI. o.o

Well, I went to see if there's anything on her blog. In a message expressing concerns and hopes about the current pandemic, she also included this:
Quote:
After the show last year, I was creating music at home for a long time.
Finally, I completed my project.
It felt good to meet the deadline.
I hope I can inform you about this plan soon.
So, this might be what she is referencing.

I was planning to get PD1Remake anyway, but this may speed it up. I'll snatch that OST the second it drops. I was gonna go physical, but who knows how long that could take to arrive. Some glint of positivity in a time of uncertainty.

That said, since it's obliged at this point, let's hear Kobayashi's own words:
Quote:
We should be calm and listen carefully to the news from the specialists.
We should think about what we can do, stay safe and behave as usual.
I just hope this situation will get better.
Please take care of your health.

Confirmed. She remixed everything for the Remake!!

This is the best kind of retcon. Having an amazing composer remix music they had nothing to do with in the first place. Justice for what happened with Crimson Dragon. This bodes really well for Kobayashi doing the same for the eventual Panzer Dragoon Zwei remake--someone like Kobayashi remixing Yayoi Wachi is like a fantasy mash-up. And then the whole series will be brought full circle--Kobayashi will have worked on all of them!

Kobayashi also blogged about the upcoming Game Gear Micro (JP only for now). The blue model will have Sylvan Tale, her first RPG soundtrack (and for those Motoaki Takenouchi fans, the yellow model has all three Shining Force Gaiden games).

I finally got around to listening to the Remake arrangements and they're 100% exactly what I was hoping they would be: PD1 music with Saori Kobayashi orchestration, sound design, rhythms, and reharmonization. Very impressive stuff, I really hope they bring her back for Zwei Remake because I'd love to see what she does with that material too.
