Shikigami no Shiro II Special Pack [ALFA-0001,0002] / 2004-06-02
式神の城Ⅱ サウンドトラック スペシャルパック

Supposedly just a pack with SnS2 OST (this) and SnS2 Naomi Version (this). Also included some illustration cards. Only 200 were made.

However JGML lists the second disc with a different tracklist, so it may not be the same.
I've added a Yahoo auctions image. The first disc is the regular OST alright. The second one can't be seen too well but it seems a to have a different disc artwork.

So it's possible the second disc is an extended version of SnS2 Naomi with more tracks. A "Shikigami no Shiro 2 Original Sound Source (Naomi Version) CD / 式神の城2 オリジナル音源(NAOMI版)CD" was sold by mail (here). I've always assumed it was this, but it could be another disc, the second one in the Special Pack.

The original site with the info was supposedly this: http://www.alfasystem.net/shiki2soundtracksp/. But it's not in the Web Archive.
It's really hard to find any decent info so if anybody knows anything else...

EDIT FROM THE PAST TO THE FUTURE: Thanks Myrkyl for the confirmation.

I think i can confirm a 2nd disc with 25 tracks exist.. as this CD was ripped and found on the web around february 2k8.
The 18 first tracks are identical to the 18 first tracks from this cd, while tracks 19~25 are shorter versions of tracks 19~25 from this cd.

Sadly, i do not have any other informations.

Very obscure Namco promo albums, to research/add later:
http://dzone.sakura.ne.jp/1namco/dis...amco/index.htm
(click on the blue block for more info)

Several aren't mentioned elsewhere, so I don't know.
But this lost Pac-Man casette has full scans, amazing.

Silent Hell - Music from the Silent Hill Movie
http://itunes.apple.com/us/album/sil...nt/id265875190
http://www.amazon.com/Silent-Hell-Mu.../dp/B001H6RNYM

Supposedly the movie OST, which used tweaked tracks from various SH games,
However I think something funny is going on, because the arranges are reported to be by Jeff Danna, but the tagged artist in the release is "stanton shows"

Looking for info about that guy I find this puzzling statement:
Quote:
Liner Notes: About the Soudtrack: I have to first give credit to Akira Yamaoka and Jeff Danna for their music for the movie. I had an obsession with creating a soundtrack for the movie, Silent Hill(2006), since one never seemed to come out. I had no idea how I would create it, but determination was the driving force in, hopefully, 'getting it right'. After over a year of doing my best to complete it within the guidelines of the movie, I feel I have come to the end of the road for this album. thanks.
'Movie rip' turned OST...?

Check this out: http://silenthillcommunity.com/viewt...?f=31&t=287700

It seems to be a rip of a fan-made soundtrack. How the heck did this guy manage to sell it on Amazon and not get sued over it?!

There was apparently a promo single of FFXII. (Up to) 300 copies were released, but nobody has ever added it.

http://www.square-enix.com/eu/en/wha...fxiilaunch.pdf
http://www.siliconera.com/2007/02/25...-launch-party/

We already have some information, but a scan or a tracklist will make the entry more substantial.

Video Game Orchestra - Rockestral Game Music

Just something I've found while browsing online, it seems to be an event only release that I couldn't find on this site. As far as I can tell, it was given out exclusively at PAX East 2011. If you punch it into Google, all you'll find are download links for FLAC versions of it. However, I've managed to grasp that this is the tracklist:

Quote:
01 – Fight – Bombing Mission (03:31)
02 – Theme of Laura (03:22)
03 – The End Begins to Rock (04:09)
04 – Super Mario World (Big Band Version) (04:02)
05 – Vampire Killer (04:31)
06 – Kingdom Hearts Suite (Overture, Dearly Beloved, Passion, Hikari) (10:24)
07 – Chrono Cross ~ Time’s Scar ~ (Studio Live) (03:32)
08 – Radical Dreamers (Studio Live) (05:54)
Seems to be two different forms of artwork?

There is also a description from one of the sources. which makes it sound like an entire student orchestra was involved with this.

Quote:
Available exclusively at PAX East 2011.

While video games attract an ever-increasing audience, the accompanying music is generating a growing audience as well. Founded in May 2008, VGO is the first and only contemporary student orchestra to showcase these interactive media compositions. VGO is a student/alumni-run contemporary orchestra that performs orchestral arrangements of popular video game music. It consists of a symphony, choir, and rock band - the all auditioned 90 student and alumni musicians span from regional to international competition winners. The musicians are from over 20 countries who attend, or are alumni of Berklee College of Music, New England Conservatory, and Boston University. This internationally diverse, multi-cultural orchestra creates a very unique taste in its sound.
As I'm not allowed to post download links, just google "video game orchestra rockestra". There seems to be no trace of this event album on their official website, http://www.videogameorchestra.com/

I think I finally figured that little thing out -- as best as I can tell, it's a collection of Super Mario RPG remixes done by one of the old VGMix folks. I don't think he released it as a set, but that someone else put it together and distributed it as a set. I tracked the guy down and swapped e-mails a few months back... if you want, I can double check to make sure I'm not nuts.

This site (web archive ok) was focused on rare vgm: http://www.gmoa.com/vgme/ / http://www.gmoa.com/vgme/vgme/

Most of it we already have, but not all (ex.- the Pac Man casette I meantioned above, or a Terra Cresta album)

It also contains some nifty, ancient interview transcriptions.

Up for auction right now, is Cat Number 17DH-61051.
http://page12.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/j...ion/p249345405

This looks to be a Preview/Promo by King Records to promote the yet-to-be-released Mario Syndrome album.
Obscure for sure.

Possible PUZZLE BUBBLE (But-a-Move) soundtrack.

There's currently an auction on e-bay for a rare version of the PC game "Puzzle Bubble". The seller indicates the game came with a bonus Soundtrack CD (should be the left grey disc).
I can't verify that information, and the EAN code leads to nothing.

I don't believe we have this in the database yet:
http://page16.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/u36967182

I would add it but aside from title and catalog number (and a little bit of the tracklist) on that picture, there's no info on the web.

Shame the seller blocks foreigners and middlemen.

edit: And this is another one not on VGMdb yet:

The first one, from the auction description and related pages, is single CD enclosed with (first print of?) Death Bringer for X68000, published by Telenet Japan on 1989/03/10, 9800Y.
The auction says it's 3 tracks, but the other site says 2, 黒い予感~マリオネットの笑い and Last Od'ysey. This matches what it's printed in the CD (the third line is 遊音人, a Telenet sound team I believe)

The second one is a CD-ROM + redbook actually, so I'm not sure if we should add it.

Yoh Ohyama started his Asturias prog project in 1987, and the first album, Circle in the Forest, was released in 1988. However, I've found a few references to a demo tape he supposedly cut in 1987, one which apparently contains arrangements from Minelvaton Saga and Silva Saga, and who knows what else. I don't have enough info to make an album entry, so here are a few links:

Quote:

そのまま参考にはしないけど、大山さんの世界に触れて
アレンジを作る上でなにかプラスになればと思うなあ。

Checking up on the Technosoft alums, it seems as though Tomomi Ohtani himself may have once published an album out on freelance: http://web.archive.org/web/200601091...sic.ne.jp/tmo/

Looks like it's called "Active Dreamers"—knowing anything, he probably still has copies, haha. But I think this should count.

Yeah, I saw that album in the archives of his old site, but I never bothered to add it because I haven't the slightest idea when it was released. (I really should post stuff in this thread more often.) It looks like he was still working on it at the end of 2000, so maybe 2001, but I really don't know for sure.

It seems that it was a CD-R and he was handling orders himself by e-mail, so definitely self-published.

If I get around to messaging him about the album (thankfully he has a Twitter), I'll ask for the date he started taking orders on.

Default Shiro Hamaguchi demo CD?

I'm completely unsure whether this is the right place for this particular question, please excuse me if not.

I picked up a weird CD-R at Amoeba Music in LA a few years ago and I keep forgetting I have it. I'd appreciate if someone who can read Japanese could take a look at it and help me to figure out just what it is. In the front of the jewel case is an inkjet printed card, the back is similar, and the CD is labelled with marker and a little printed insert. Here are some photos (if I submit it to VGMdb I'll certainly scan it rather than using these):

Card Front
Card Back
Case Back
CD

You may notice a mismatch between the date on the CD (1999.12) and on the case (2000.01); there are also only 28 tracks on the CD vs the 30 listed on the back. Indeed, there is a One-Winged Angel arrangement on here (seems like the Reunion Tracks version) but none of the FF VIII ones listed, and I don't recognize much else.

I assume it is a demo, but as I can't read most of the text (particularly those two characters after BGM) I'm not sure. So after "what is it?" the next question would be: Should I bother entering something odd, one-off, and mislabelled like this into VGMdb?

You're right. It's a demonstration CD meant to show off his talents for potential employers. The kanji say BGM materials, and you'll note that the card back contains a resume. In my opinion, it does not warrant inclusion in this database, but I'll leave that decision up to the editors.

Hmmmmm, that's interesting, nice find. I don't remember us ever discussing whether we should include composer demo reels, but I'm personally leaning toward not.
