Default What game is this music clip from?

Hello my fellow VG music aficionados,

A few days ago I stumbled over this snippet of a video game tune:

That's all I got. It sounds so familiar but I can't put my finger on it. It feels like an obscure (and probably crappy) game I played for a very brief time in my childhood but I don't remember anything about it. It's driving me crazy though so I hope someone here knows what it is.

All I can say is that it's using that very unique OCEAN / CODEMASTERS / INFOGRAMES / CAMERICA sound engine which isn't really helping since that engine sounds almost the same on NES, Genesis etc.

Thanks for any tips that might help me find out where that tune is from!

Cheers,

Night

Sounds like a jazz arrangement of Somewhere Over the Rainbow.

Sounds like an edited, slower tempo version of NSF track 2 of Rainbow Islands. If it's not a chip scene arrangement or something originally used from the Bubble Bobble franchise, it seems like something from Taito. Happy hunting!

Liontamer you're my hero! That's exactly it and know I remember where I knew it from as well. I was tagging along with my friend's family visiting his uncle who owned an Amiga 500. We were playing Shuffle Puc and Rainbow Islands the whole weekend. It isn't the exact same version but thanks for helping me connect the dots.

Awesome to get rid of this haunting feeling (^_^)

Cheers,

Night

PS: Turns out this specific clip is from the 1987 ZX Spectrum version http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XRwaIaKlk5A
