Default Masashi Hamauzu is arranging 60 tracks for the FFX/X-2 HD remaster

60 tracks. Seriously. It's ridiculous! So this will probably get an OST release, and I will probably buy it.
(source)

Interestingly, when you add up Hamauzu's and Uematsu's tracks (minus those performed live), you get a little over 50. So it's entirely possible Hamauzu is arranging all of his own (synth) tracks as well as all of Uematsu's, plus a few extra. Which leaves...

Anyone care to guess who the second arranger might be?

You said X / X-2 right? Does that mean Hamauzu will try his hand at arranging songs from X-2?

Because THAT would be phenomenal.

FFX was the last Hamauzu soundtrack I was really big on (its been awhile) and the X-2 soundtrack was...um, good in some parts, so I am actually looking forward to this.

It's not specified if this includes X-2. I doubt it.

My guess is that some of Uematsu's music will remained untouched (battle themes in particular) and that Hamauzu will arrange his music, some of Uematsu's, and some of Nakano's with the rest being untouched as well. Who knows for sure though.

I really want it to be Nakano. I reaaaaaaaly want it to be Nakano. I need more good news to offset the awful news of Breath of Fire today. I hate Capcom so much right now butwaitI'mnottryingtogoofftopic. Hamauzu. 60 tracks. Happiness.

This is very good news. I think Hamauzu is a better arranger (and composer) now than he was then.

I hope he isn't afraid to spice up Nakano's music.

Breath of Fire 6 is coming...for mobile/tablet platform. You can supposedly play it on PC too, but it seems to be an interactive touch game.

It...looks nothing like a BoF game. Granted, BoF V didn't look like one either, but this one...yuck.

Seriously though, Sekito arranging FFX music would actually make me interested in hearing it.

This, however:

Similar to Jormungand, I just want more Nakano. Also, we can't forget Mitsuto Suzuki; he could very well be arranging some tracks.

This is great news. I love the FFX soundtrack, and hopefully Hamauzu gets the chance to arrange and bring some life to Uematsu's compositions. On top of this, I desperately want to hear a Hamauzu arrangement of "Luca". The absence of an arrangement of this track on the Piano Collections album still makes me grit my teeth..

In all honesty, there was no mention of anything beyond 60 arranged tracks. I just assumed that, if they're replacing two thirds of the soundtrack, they might as well go all the way and replace all of it (minus the live performed tracks). Then again, some of Nakano's less interesting and more atmospheric tracks wouldn't gain much from a new arrangement (Sea of Mists, Temple Band, Inflexible Determination, Secret Manuevers, Ominous)

But yeah, Luca would be amazing. I'm looking forward to this.

A later report says Junya Nakano and Tsutomu Narita are involving in the arrangements too.

2013 has so far been full of huge ups and downs. Add this to the "ups" list. Thanks Cedille!

I'm mildly enthusiastic about the announcement. Mildly since the FFX soundtrack is already as perfect as it can get. Or phrased differently, it's broken pretty quickly if not carefully handled.

Narita is interesting, I really liked him arranging Shimomura's music on Xenoblade and The 3rd Birthday.

Nakano hasn't worked in over three years. Could this be a sign that he's getting back into the scene? *fingers crossed*

Hirosato Noda is also involved, which is not so rejoicing.

I'd be surprised if Noda's involvement is beyond "The Prelude" again.

With Hamauzu arranging so much, I suspect Narita's involvement will be small and probably related to orchestra. Maybe a new arrangement of "Suteki da ne" like he did with "Eyes On Me" for the Final Fantasy Orchestral Album.

I amend my previous statement to "I hope Nakano isn't afraid to spice up his old music." I'd appreciate some of the repetition being broken up with some new, interesting additions.

I thought the original battle theme rocked so no improvement for me I guess

Still optimistic about the rest of it, though.

I personally think it's X or VI, if I'm asked to pick up the worst regular battle theme of the series. X's regular boss theme was also as atrocious as IX. I don't expect any enhancement can ever save those tracks, since they were stillborn to begin with. I know many people like X's normal battle though.

I love the FFX battle theme, I think it's one of the best in the series! The boss battle ain't too shabby either, though it works more in-game than for casual listening.

Features a new arrangement of "Raid" (disc 3 track 14), cut to the trailer. Also features Yuna's Theme from FFX-2, but it's the same. So I think that might be a clue that the X-2 soundtrack won't be changed.
