So this game was released on many platforms. From which version is this soundtrack? I don't think for example that the MSX and PC88/98 have the same sound capabilities, do they? This game was released for these platforms in 1987:

PC-8801, PC-9801, FM-7, X1, and MSX2.

I'm guessing Koshiro composed this originally on the PC-88, since that's what he likes and is known for.

I'd have to listen to the album again to be sure but I would think it's PC88 version.

It's the original score for the PC88 version plus unused songs, new songs for the MSX version and 5 Ryo Yonemitsu arrangements.

You mean it was originally composed for the PC88, since that was Falcom's main platform at the beginning?

Also, everybody forgets Ishikawa

Just for my information, is there a musical difference between these?

Yarp. She's the true essence of old school Falcom for me.

With Ys specifically? No, since the PC98 port didn't use the YM2608 (OPN2).

This is a reprint?

http://vgmdb.net/album/4585

Same code, same date, what's the deal? Also, the year on that "reprint" is "O", which is 1987, not 1989. I'm confused.

I added some images for this one: booklet (front and back), insert (front and back), and case back. I don't have the Obi, unfortunately.

The insert is almost exactly the same as that which came with the 1989 reprint, but there are some subtle differences. For example, the text at the top of the first page is much closer to the top edge of the paper. Also, on this first print, there is some text that says...

▢の数字はLP用
1.~39.はCD用

...next to the large MUSIC FROM YS at the top of the first page that doesn't appear in the reprint. There might be some other small differences to take note of.
