Default Producer/Composer same thing?

Like by topic, most western albums (specially for vocal tracks) reporte the track info in this form: "Produced by"
What does that means? Is the "producer" the "composer" itself of the track?
I have always been make confusion, so does anyone can tell me the difference if there's one?

They are definitely not the same thing. I think of the Producer as the Composer's boss. He's in charge of overseeing the music production, but probably doesn't contribute to the composition beyond evaluation and critique. I think there are some here who could give a fuller definition.
