I have a copy with a different catalog number: LC039~40. I think it's a production sample, because the barcode zone is white. Some info is also missing or possibly different at the back.
Does anyone have more info on this? Last edited by LuxKiller65; Aug 16, 2011 at 09:53 PM. |

No one knows what those LC codes are?

I don't know for sure, but I think that the LC codes are Konami's internal catalog numbers for their CDs. If you go back though older Konami CDs, you'll see the LC codes on a lot of them. When they were publishing albums through other companies (like King Records), the record company's catalog number would have been the official number, but there would often be an LC code as well. Now that Konami is releasing albums through Konamistyle, the LC number is the official catalog number.

LuxKiller, could you get a shot of the obi on the back of the CD? That'll shed some light regarding publisher and distributor.

Indeed, as mentioned in other threads and also by just looking at the older King Records releases, the LC catalog number does appear on the final products too, but of course they went by their more official KICA number instead.
I guess this one is just a sample that Konami printed on their own, or that King Records printed for Konami as a test/check. That wouldn't explain why they bothered shrinkwrapping it, but at least makes sense. A normal sample would just have a sticker and a marking on the inner ring as we all know, so it must be early in the production process. The back of the album has also missing information, not sure if you can catch that from these pictures. Last edited by LuxKiller65; Aug 16, 2011 at 09:53 PM. |

Yeah, the important part is there, thanks. "King Records" is mentioned as distributor on the KICA-7506~7 (it's the 2nd line below the barcode), but not on LC039~40. Also the latter seems to be missing the release date, too.

Cool! Guess we're not adding the LC one to avoid confusion.

Apparently there's some... unhappiness (to say the least) over the re-translated track titles on this album, so maybe someone who's familiar with the series music history can give this another look?

Perhaps he supervised the sound during the film digitization? People working on games often wear many hats.

A recent edit changed Konami Kukeiha Club to Masanori Adachi, Taro Kudo, Shigeru Fukutake, Hidehiro Funauchi, Norio Hanzawa. Is this correct?
Also, this was not a very informative edit. This is a compilation album, so which games were composed by which composers? |

Sorry about that. Adachi and Kudo did Super Castlevania IV; Fukutake, Funauchi, and Hanzawa did Castlevania Adventure; and Funauchi did Belmont's Revenge.

I found the following readings on the internet in connection with these games:
Hidehiro Funauchi: 船内秀浩 Shigeru Fukutake: 福武茂 Do you think that these are legitimate? |

The composer info I submitted a month ago is still pending. Is there a problem?

Both of those names came from GMCL. That seems like verification enough since this site already uses a lot of information from that site.

One could also argue we should go with プレイバック半沢 (Playback? Hanzawa) and H.F as printed in the booklet, but I was torn so didn't edit the texts.

Here's a kind of tough question. Has anyone tried to figure out a composer track breakdown for Castlevania: The Adventure, just based on discerning the composers' styles? I'm trying to figure out which tracks Kazuo Hanzawa probably composed, but it's harder to hear his style in this soundtrack (as opposed to the Genesis stuff he did). But so far, I'm thinking Evil Devil kind of sounds like him. Battle of the Holy sounds like Funauchi to me. What do you think? Which tracks sound most like Hanzawa?

Yeah, I've tried to see if I could pick him out of the tracks a few years ago with no luck either. Like you said, it's hard to hear his style here. I agree that "Battle of the Holy" sounds like Funauchi. "Evil Devil" does vaguely remind me of him. Perhaps he even played a small role only doing the small fanfares. *shrugs* Your guess is as good as mine!

So it turns out there were actually 4 members on the sound team for Super Castlevania IV.
Masanori Oodachi = Masanori Oouchi + Masanori Adachi Souji Taro = Akira Souji (aka akiropito) + Taro Kudou Masanori Oouchi = sound effects Akira Souji = sound program and a little bit of sound effects Taro Kudou & Masanori Adachi = music Source = my correspondence with Akira Souji Quote:

Excellent, thanks man. I KNEW the "Oodachi" and "Souji" things were not just normal alias, thanks internet.
But I don't think Taro Kudou did music here? (probably just general sound design) (akiropito identifies Adachi only as the composer here) Last edited by Dag; Nov 2, 2013 at 08:52 AM. |

Nice work Strugglepoo.
It's one of the best soundtracks of the SNES generation. |

There's an interview with Taro Kudo in a 2003 issue of Play Magazine. It was scanned years ago, not sure if it's still watchable at castlevania dungeon.

"Darkness" also sounds a bit like him to me, specifically the tumbling bits at 0:24. Someone I know said the chords sounded kinda NON to him too. Nothing else really gives me a strong feeling. |
