Myself, I think Squeak Squad is abundantly or even solely Jun Ishikawa, and because it wasn't developed by HAL Labs they were lazy and credited all of the HAL sound staff. That's my theory... lol. I don't have much to say about Amazing Mirror. I thought maybe NiDL could be Tadashi Ikegami doing the covers because he is also credited on Canvas Curse where those songs are reused, and I can't see anyone other than Ishikawa doing the main score for Canvas Curse either.
Air Ride is the more interesting one ~ mostly Ando and Sakai I reckon, fairly even split between them much like Melee (some songs sound very similar to Melee in fact, and can be deciphered from cross-referencing.) Most of Ishikawa's tunes there are reprised from Super Star ~ "Grass" being one notable exception. I could post my thoughts in full later if anyone's interested (don't have time right at this moment!) This subject is very relevant to interests though.

Funnily enough, I do have that tune tagged as Sakai :P I thought so too, but considering most of the other songs sound like Ishikawa it seemed unlikely he would participate in the game for like one song... But who knows really.
The other one sounds like Ishikawa to me, but of course I'm not really sure. I don't know Ikegami's music well... I would take your word for it if you're certain. Anyway here's what I have for Air Ride atm. Confident about some but not others. The orchestral songs are less easy for me, and as always, jingles give you very little to go on. Also have no idea if you guys have the same song titles as I do. Spoiler:

As far as I'm aware, it is also still not known who composed each track for Kirby Super Star, too. The game was composed by both Jun Ishikawa and Dan Miyakawa. Most tracks sound like they were composed by Ishikawa. An exception is Megaton Punch, which doesn't sound like Ishikawa's style.
NOTE: I haven't heard any other tracks by Miyakawa, so I can't really spot his compositional style. EDIT: All of them except "Megaton Punch" sound like Ishikawa. Last edited by drdevilfx; Jan 2, 2016 at 11:13 AM. |

Dan may have been responsible for sound assistance, though. It could also be possible his compositions were scrapped, and the programmer forgot to remove his credit. |

Mm yeah it's pretty obvious Ando, I think I'd just call that a mistake. lol
The 7thy part does, but then all the HAL composers use those kinds of chords. The first section sounds that vaguely bit reminiscent of the Smash Bros Melee "Rainbow Ride" arrangement. Granted, this isn't a tune I'm really confident about. Quote:

fwiw here's my Squeak Squad guesses too... the overwhelming supply of Ishikawa makes me think nobody else was involved. Composers only offering one or two songs for a game isn't unheard of, but it is relatively unlikely, and not something I've noticed in other HAL game soundtracks.
Nonetheless I did think a few were more likely to be Ando, and that one Sakai tune mentioned before. Spoiler:
also my tags suck

VERY IMPORTANT UPDATE: as all songs for Return to Dream Land have official composer credits now, this post is completely unnecessary and probably not entirely accurate anymore; please refer to the game's thread for all official information.
---------------------- This is my proposed breakdown for Kirby's Return to Dream Land. I guess it's pretty easy to identify each composer, because they have very distinctive styles; Hirokazu Ando usually goes for a "digital orchestra" similar to that of the Smash Bros. games, while Jun Ishikawa relies more on traditional instruments similar to those of the SNES Kirby Super Star / Dream Land 3. The numbers on each track refer to the order in which they appear in the game's sound test. I also indicate the equivalent tracks on the official soundtrack (http://vgmdb.net/album/33773) Also, starred (*) tracks have been reprised on Kirby: Triple Deluxe, and therefore they are officially confirmed by that game's sound test. UPDATE: Apparently Jun Ishikawa made Vs. Magolor and Hirokazu Ando made C-R-O-W-N-E-D according to a post on the Japanese Kirby Triple Deluxe Miiverse together with RtDL's liner notes (info taken from here btw) UPDATE 2: New songs confirmed on Planet Robobot (**). It seems like I originally got Landia wrong UPDATE 3 (2018/19/01): Probably the last time I'll tweak this list, but I've retagged the tracks again coming from the formatting of the sound files. Aside from a few mistakes I guess it was pretty accurate. JI - Jun Ishikawa; HA - Hirokazu Ando Spoiler:

Yeah the Return to Dream Land tunes are pretty obvious. The general rule is that the songs using classic Kirby instrument samples are Ishikawa and those using, as you say, "digital orchestra" and more modern production standards are Ando.
I have wholly different song titles to you, but here goes nothing. Spoiler:
I'm almost 100% confident, as I was 99% correct when the Triple Deluxe OST revealed those credits as well (I only misidentified the disc channel jingle, for goodness sakes )

Below are the exact filenames extracted from the disk ISO: Spoiler:
I'm trying to think of the best way to quickly match up the names to the music, but if you have a legally obtained copy of the ISO and Dolphin you can extract them for yourself quite easily. |
