Does anyone know if an official release of the full soundtrack is planned?

Mitsuda said "A soundtrack release of World Destruction is not planned at all" on January 1st. Given he has the copyright and can release it through his label like Armodyne (spell?), I assume he is dissatisfied with what little he did, or what others did.

I liked the main theme and the way its melody was incorporated into the overworld and final boss theme.

Thanks Cedille for the info. That's kinda sad to hear.

Supposedly Mitsuda was going to tweak/rewrite songs for the US version of the game, maybe they'll release that instead?

That would be really awesome. I'm a bit disappointed that this OST lacks a proper release, since the Czech Philharmonic Collegium performed some of the tracks.

Did they perform anything more than the opening theme? I'm still surprised Mitsuda used the exuberance of a European orchestra for a DS title.

Especially when, in the end, he decides not to release a soundtrack. Seems like a waste to me.

Seems they only did the opening (no other tracks are orchestrated in the game rip I have).

So it's almost confirmed he recorded parts of CC arranged album in Czech (the closed blog had an entry regarding the recoding session and he talked about the smaller ensembles).

edit: Oh, well, it would have been for Lime Odyessy. Nevermind.

World Destruction / Sands of Destruction Unofficial Composer Breakdown

Yasunori Mitsuda (YM)
Shunsuke Tsuchiya (ST)
Kazumi Mitome (KM)

Feel free to argue these guesses. I've arranged them the same way the DS rip is organized. Confirmed tracks based on premium CD album. If two composers are listed, the first one is the arranger and the second one is only featured.
----------------------------

01 Opening Movie (not any of the three composers)
02 Sands of Destruction (Opening Theme) (ST/YM) [uses Beastlord theme and main theme]
03 World Destruction Main Theme (YM) [CONFIRMED]
04 Fun Choosing Options! (ST)
05 Battle (Main Battle Theme) (YM)
06 Boss Battle (ST) [uses Beastlord theme]
07 Primal Lord (ST) [uses Beastlord theme]
08 Special Battle (ST) [uses Beastlord theme]
09 The Creator (Final Battle Theme) (YM) [uses main theme]
10 Victory (Fanfare) (YM)

11 Defeated (Game Over) (YM) [uses main theme]
12 World Map (YM) [uses main theme]
13 Barni Village (YM) [CONFIRMED]
14 Mansion (ST)
15 Calm Place (YM)
16 Viteau (KM)
17 Bacchitav Caravan (ST)
18 Mechto (ST)
19 Lyse (ST)
20 Illusion of Sand (YM) [CONFIRMED]

21 Sky Gaol (ST)
22 Stowaways (ST)
23 Fallenmire (KM)
24 Spirit Meadow (ST)
25 Garden (ST)
26 Mysterious Fog Palace (YM)
27 Azure Tower (KM)
28 Tanner Plateau (YM) [uses main theme]
29 Earth Tower (KM)
30 Garragis Wastes (ST)

31 Albion Greenwood (ST)
32 Wind Tower (YM)
33 Primal Cataract (ST)
34 Creator's Ark (KM)
35 Salvation Committee (KM)
36 Dramatic Event (KM)
37 Mystery (YM)
38 Run (ST)
39 Funny Event (ST)
40 Sand Rider (ST/YM) [uses main theme]

41 Pleasure Cruiser (YM)
42 Machinations (KM)
43 Primal Lord's Power (YM)
44 Beastlord (ST)
45 Things Best Forgotten (KM)
46 Kyrie's _____ (KM)
47 Theme of Taupy (ST) [CONFIRMED]
48 Scarlet Future (KM) [CONFIRMED]
49 Staff Roll (YM)

-----------------------------
I have some doubts about Tanner Plateau. The beginning surely sounds like Mitsuda, but then the bass and percussion kick in and it sounds like Mitome trying to emulate Mitsuda. :/ I think Mitome does this on other tracks as well such as Fallenmire: he'll do just enough to suggest a "Mitsudan" style but doesn't quite outright copy. He's really the perfect person to do it, too: recall that Mitome spent several years as sound staff at Square and worked on a good chunk of their RPGs. Would appreciate some input here.

Yasunori Mitsuda said in a SEMO interview that Shunsuke Tsuchiya wrote the overseas opening theme. Would that be track 02 in your list?

Quote:
Don: I've heard you are rewriting the World Destruction soundtrack for the Western release of the game. Is this true and if so, will there be a possibility of a subsequent soundtrack release?

Yasunori Mitsuda: Yes, Tsuchiya from my company is rewriting the opening music for the Western version called Sands of Destruction.

I'd say your analysis is spot on, but I would question the following:

28 Tanner Plateau (YM) [uses main theme]

This one you mentioned reservations about. I'd go as far as to say the opening really doesn't sound like Mitsuda to me either, nor the flute melody. It's just not put together like a Mitsuda track. So it's probably Mitome like you said.

30 Garragis Wastes (ST)

This one could potentially be Mitsuda. Those piano chords in the middle particularly remind me of his work.

41 Pleasure Cruiser (YM)

I'm a little bit skeptical that Mitsuda wrote this one. It seems a little too simple.

________________

All in all, it's a good score, and I'd like a full release, if just for the upgrade in quality. While he's at it, he could release Lime Odyssey too!

Mitsuda definitely wrote Pleasure Cruiser, it has his style all over it. Especially the style he used on Soma Bringer and Inazuma Eleven. (the basslines in particular)

BTW Jormungand, would you have any interest in doing this type of breakdown on Bomberman 64: The Second Attack? It has quiet of few composers though.. (Tomohiko Kira, Yasunori Mitsuda, Hidenobu Otsuki, Tomori Kudo, Hiroyo Yamanaka, Yoshitaka Hirota, Kenji Hiramatsu)

I've played around with it a few times, but aside from a small few that are obviously Mitsuda, I can't get much further.

Was there a thread on this subject somewhere? I vaguely remember reading somewhere (maybe a forum, maybe an interview, something) about ACE+'s contributions.

Amusement Planet Epikyur
Custom Bomber menu
Merchant Ship Frontier
Multiplayer Key Trial
Ocean Planet Aquanet
Space Map

I also suspect my rip might be incomplete, so there could be more.

According to the following:http://www.squareenixmusic.com/featu...iews/ace.shtml

"ACE composed the themes for the opening, ending, title screen, boss battles, the character Lily, certain stages, and so on."

I had a feeling it came from SEMO or something similar, thanks Xenofan.

awesome, thanks. I don't see a "Space Map" on the USF rip I have though. I think it may be called "Planet Select"?

I think Battle Mode and Pommy Intro may be Mitsuda's as well.
