I found a pretty interesting (although old) post on EarthBound Central that contains certain info that isn't well known: Takuto Kitsuta was originally going to compose music for the original Nintendo 64 version of Mother 3 (aka EarthBound 64) along with Shogo Sakai.

The link to the post:
http://earthboundcentral.com/2009/12...in-dengeki-64/

The text refers to him as "Takuto Kitta", but the kanji in the scans (橘田 拓人) lines up with Kitsuta so that's a misreading. It seems that his main role was that of a sound programmer, as well as handling "techno-sounding stuff" for battles against mechanical enemies and such.

Sakai has been claimed to be the only musician involved in the final GBA version, so I guess it's safe to assume that all of Kitsuta's work was scrapped. I really wonder what kind of music would he have brought to the Mother series. We won't know for sure until the prototype version of EarthBound 64 surfaces (something that may never happen, unfortunately).

Was Kitsuta for sure part of HAL at some point? He was Creatures Inc. staff at least as far back as Super Smash Bros. Melee (クリーチャーズの橘田くん).

He worked on the N64 Mother 3 soundtrack with Shogo Sakai, but I'm not sure that interview says what company he was part of and Creatures was involved in the development there.

The credits of Melee actually credit Kitsuta as part of HAL (you may want to slow down the video if it goes too fast), so maybe he worked for them for a while before joining Creatures?

That being said both companies worked together in Melee as well (looking at the entire staff there are various employees credited as part of Creatures).

Yeah, the Melee credits is where I noticed his company affiliation. It seems he joined Creatures directly after that.

Melee was released in November 2001. In December 2001 he was credited as a member of Creatures: http://www.mobygames.com/game/gamebo...rs-day/credits

Edit: that Melee interview CHz posted was published in January 2002, so that seems to be why Sakai refers to him as a member of Creatures.

Cool, thanks. I completely forgot Melee has those extended credits.
