Default External Direct Link

I was wondering if I could use the search directly and not as secondary feature.

An example:

When we search for an album using Google, lets say the Star Ocean 2 Original Soundtrack album which has the Catalogue number FSCA-10063, google gets the string and search for it being cached or not.

So the direct link + the string will be like this "http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=FSCA-10063"

The "q" = The parameter
The "FSCA-10063" = The string

My question is if its possible to do the same with the VGMdb search feature.

Direct Link Example: "http://vgmdb.net/db/albums-search.php?do=search?formalbumtitle=FSCA-10063"

The "formalbumtitle" = The Parameter

I tried many things but could not get it to work.

The album ID http://vgmdb.net/album/123

However I wanted to know if I could get the VGMdb search feature + a string.

An example, the catalogue number when linked would be redirected to the album ID.

I would be very grateful if any of you could answer my question.

Thanks,

I understand what you're getting at. I'll look into using that format for quicksearch.

It's done!

http://vgmdb.net/search?q=test
Click on that link and you'll get the results page.

Doing searches will now bring you to that URL format. (query parameters are not shown for advanced searches, however)

A tip: if you add VGMdb's opensearch to your list of search engines (click on the red google icon on the main page, on the top right of the news section), you can highlight text and select the VGMdb search from the right click context menu (if it's not your active search, you can find it under "more search types").

I would like to ask if it is possible to implement this feature to work with individual Discs, for example, when I search for http://vgmdb.net/search?q=GFCA-34 all goes well, when I search for http://vgmdb.net/search?q=GFCA-34~5 all goes well, but it does not go well when I search for http://vgmdb.net/search?q=GFCA-35. I think that would be a great addition to this feature.

That's an interesting and useful idea. I think that all we'd have to do is search the media's cat number field in addition to searching the album's cat number field.

@Secret, any update on the matter? Is that really that simple?

It's not quite as simple as I thought. The idea is essentially what I outlined above, but it introduces some complications that make me wonder if we shouldn't just store the media cat numbers as a list in the album table.

I do want this capability though.

Well it looks like this will take sometime to be done. If this is really just like you said then it is better to skip it for the time being.

Thanks for the update, I really appreciate it.

@Secret,

I wonder if this feature will be possible to be implemented with the new revision as it let us to update individual Discs(media).
