Label auto-linking didn't work because SME is set from 2003, but this single here has very noticeable, "SME Records" on front/lower left and this is not a reprint:

The SME Records logo is plainly on there, so this is strange. Looks like they may have been just an imprint back then.

Worth noting that the logo is different from the post-2003 logo.

I was thinking something like that. I remember recently had to make a second entry for Ki/oon Records, which also started out as an imprint for a couple years.

in 2003, sme records became a company but it doesn't mean it wasn't existing before
the same with other labels/imprints

it's probably labels for artists, and they decided to make them legit later (in 2003)

SME Records was an imprint of Sony Music Records Inc. from 1998 to 2003. Not sure if VGMdb stores that labels have changed parents.
