Does anyone know what sound source was used for this album? e.g. was it a Famicom, or an arcade board, or something else?

It's interesting that G.M.O. bothered to make an album of Christmas songs for sale in Japan, where only ~2% of people are Christian. And the album was even reprinted by Scitron years later, also only in Japan.

Can anyone shed light on why this made sense? Is Christmas very secular in Japan for example, such that it's more widely celebrated than the 2% would suggest?

i think things didn't have to make much sense back then, g.m.o. and later scitron released a good bunch of weird albums, collections and reprints, i bet some didn't even make a profit

anyway for the xmas stuff, see how china celebrate xmas (and halloween, and valentine's day, and...) without really caring about its origins and religious/spiritual meanings. they mostly follow western festivities on top of theirs, because why not, and because business too.

Christmas has been a commercialized event in Japan without any religious context for decades. They even have their own traditions born from their own commercialism like eating KFC and "Christmas cake."

After another year gone by, a complete copy of this album still eludes me.
