Would someone be able to translate the tracklisting for this game? I'm interested in the English titles, especially since it was released today. Hopefully Play-Asia opens up the pre-orders soon for the leftovers.

I second that, too. Unfortunately, it's far harder to translate than Guwange, so further help is needed. :\

Pretty good translation, here's some comments and corrections:

03. "Trembling mad with hatred in the game of death"
ニ is katakana for the particle に, not kanji for "second" or "two".

05. "Grave keeper's anger"
墓守 is actually hakamori.

08. Depending on in-game context, it might be better to replace "rebellion" with "riot" or "unrest".

09. "Beast" sounds better than "large animal". Matter of preference.

13. "Banquet of blood and madness colored by a beautiful voice"
Just rearranging phrases.

14. Some redundancy here, just "Emperor of Hades" should do.

17. 交狂曲 is a pun on 交響曲 ("symphony"). "Mad Symphony" should capture the meaning better than "mixed enthusiastic song".

Turns out the entry already had a Japanese tracklist that just wasn't set to the default

It's pretty much the same as the one I just posted except less literal, so I'm just going to stick with it because the titles sound better. The track 3 title was originally "Death Game of a Shiver Mad of Hatred," but "Trembling Mad with Hatred in the Game of Death" just works tons better so that's the only track name I switched.

Thanks for those scans, Cypher. I wonder if we should keep the earlier set, and if so, whether there should be an option to divide galleries into multiple sets.

One of the sets must have some kind of coloration problem, so we should get rid of that set if we can figure out which one it is.

About "The Witch of the Bottomless Swamp", I just heard the guitar section used during the first 40 seconds in an episode of "American Chopper". It was just the guitar (maybe some drums; can't remember). And yes, it is the exact same melody.

Deathsmiles does have some original guitar work (the solos in "Burning Haloween Town", "Hades Castle", etc.), but most of it is sample-based (no surprise, coming from a sampling master like Namiki). A lot of video game composers today use extensive sample sets to make music, with all kinds of cuts, tweaks, and clever arrangements to make original tracks. I used to mess around with Acid Pro back in the day, and it came with some discs full of samples. About half of the guitar ones were used in the original Devil May Cry. =/

Interesting. Do you know which tracks on the album have completely sampled guitar work so that credit can be taken away from Kamikura for those tracks?

No, I don't, but anything that sounds like a solo is definitely his work. He shouldn't be credited for specific tracks anyway, because the scans don't list a track breakdown for his work.

The official translation finally arrives.
Quote:
Stage A-1: Halloween Town Aflame
Stage A-2: Fury of the Gravekeepers
Stage B-1: Forest of the Lost
Stage B-2: Witch of the Bottomless Swamp
Stage C-1: Disturbance at the Lakeside Village
Stage C-2: The Beast Awakens
Stage Extra: Gorge
Stage Final: Hades Castle
But I'm not sure if we should replace the tracklist that has prevailed for 2 years, nor should I add a new tracklist just because of several official track names while the rest still remains fan-translated. Perhaps this kind of information would be better submitted when we start managing translations on a track-by-track basis? (I don't know this is where we're actually heading for, since I've not closely followed what's going on in this regard).

The recent liner notes translation confirms Kamikura performs on each of Namiki's tracks and also created the solos himself. Perhaps more than just a performer credit is warranted.

It says in the notes that disc 2 is a CD-R, but I'm pretty sure my copy is a pressed disc.

If you have a drive in your computer capable of making CDRs you can use the freeware ImgBurn to check, using its 'discovery' function. It'll even tell you the brand if it's a CDR, a pressed CD shows up as a 'CD-Rom'
