I've seen this composer's name listed as Hiori Wakakuwa in various places, and even in a post on this site:
http://vgmdb.net/forums/showthread.php?t=6408 Does anyone know why there's that discrepancy? Last edited by ntwrk506; Jul 30, 2013 at 04:54 AM. |

His page here used to say "Hiori" for a long time.
"Hiori" came from a page on a band he was a part of, ita-roh, but I can't find it now and have a feeling it was unofficial. He writes it as Fiori on his Facebook profile and blogs and it probably appears as Fiori on this album: http://vgmdb.net/album/12132. |

I was thinking that perhaps Hiori is his actual name, but that he now goes by Fiori, because he also seems to use an alternate last name: Hanawo. Maybe he changed Hiori Wakakuwa to Fiori Hanawo?

"Hanawo" is his stage name, not his last name, and he uses it by itself. I assume his Facebook display name is "Fiori Hanawo" because it won't let him use a single name.
"Hiori" was never correct, except as a mechanical romanization of the pronunciation, and as far as I can tell he's never used it. |

By the way, I know he did the music for Super Mahjong Taikai (SFC), but do you know if it's confirmed anywhere that he did the music for the sequel, Mahjong Taikai II (SFC)?

Since the Japanese government provides that romanization of their names have to be in Hepburn, you're kinda correct in saying that Hiori is the one his name is supposed to be.
