This album is just aweful, the saxophone destroys everything good about the Original Sound.

I have an opposite opinion, I think the sax and guitar found in it are fabulous. A really good upbeat jazz album. But I can see why fans of the original game music could find the arrangements are too diverting. Still, everything from the the arrangements to the performance is of high quality, so I guess it's a matter of tastes.

Yeah it's not a bad album, but definitely not as great as the original music - which I love. It's a shame the OST wasn't also included (maybe on a second disc), then I would have given this 5 stars instead of 4! There's other albums in this sort of vain which I like a lot more, such as Rockman X Alph Lyla (awesome!), and the Akihabara Electric Circus albums, which are more electronic/dance-y.

Something else; I often see Yukio Kaneoka also credited for music/sound on F-Zero, though there's clearly no mention of Kaneoka on this disc. Makes me wonder what their role was on the game (I guess sound effects?) The in-game credits just list all the staff, but conveniently not what they did. I also find it a great shame that Yumiko Kanki didn't write many more soundtracks.

Yes the performances are of a high quality, and I personally think the guitar tracks are very good, but the problem is there is only 2 out of a possible 12, the rest of the album being saxophone. It is purely a matter of taste, and if you find the saxophone cheesy and irritating like I do, then you should avoid this album. It took me quite a while to find a mint and complete copy of this, and I am utterly dissapointed with it. Ebay calls for this piece me feels.

I actually quite enjoy this album and its jazzy style. It's too bad that it's out of print, I listened to it and found some so so quality mp3s but it would sound so much better in CD quality. There were a few stand out songs to me, like White Land and Sand Ocean.

Is this a general statement? If so, you've been listening to too many of the wrong saxophone artists. If it's a specific statement, I somewhat agree.

I really like this album.
It's something different.
Nothing like the guitar music that came afterwards. (which is awesome too of course)

I can understand why people would be upset with this album. In my case, I heard this after having heard most of the previous TKCA releases, which did not take a heavily modified jazz approach. So, when I originally acquired this album, more than a decade ago, I was quite upset. It wasn't what I was expecting, especially after having heard the likes of Cyber Core or Masaya Omnibus.

But now, years later, after being exposed to albums like Contraband and Rockman X Alph-Lyla with Toshiaki Ohtsubo, I really like this F-ZERO album. I've gotten over the fact that it doesn't follow the formula established in the previous TKCA albums.

Did this album originally have a black cd case or a white one? I see different cases depending on the seller.
