Default does it make any difference, the position you store CDs in?

I'd like to purchase a stylish cd-stopring piece of furniture... you know..
I wonder if it makes any difference as regards cds "health" and duration to keep them stored horizontally (which I'm sure is ok), vertically, and obliquely.
There's the gravity field action on cds surface who worried me.
Do you know more about this?

Why should gravity care about the orientation of the object in space?!?!

But it might affect the manuals and other paper stuff. I usually store my albums with the front at the bottom so the manual touches the front of the cover and stays flat, dunno if it makes a huge difference over the years though.

all i've heard is that with vinyl it's a concern ~ you are not supposed to store them horizontally on top of each other, as the weight can (over a long period of time) degrade the surface. with CDs it doesn't seem like it'd matter which way you store them. i think the best idea is just to keep them out of direct sunlight.

Well, if you really want to get picky about gravity...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gravita..._time_dilation

Meaning, if you store your CD's closer to the core of the Earth, they will experience more gravity. This will slow down time (to an outside observer), so they will last longer, provided you live at a higher region than your discs.

Keep your CD's in the lowest portion of your house. The difference in longevity is probably measurable in zeptoseconds. Lol.
