question: are any of the Megami Tensei tracks on this album unique to it? i.e. are they not found on Megami Tensei I.II?

Would these be PC88 soundtracks? If so, because Tsukasa Masuko is not credited, it might be an entirely different soundtrack. None of the track titles match up, nor do the descriptions in the parentheses -- not that necessarily means anything.

yeah I think it's PC88.

But it is the same games, yes? I can't remember which company did Megami Tensei before Atlus took over with SMT. But these are Telenet titles.

Heh, I just found that I had some mp3s of the Megami Tensei tracks from this album all along. They are indeed totally unique, so they are probably from a different version of the game.

Some months before Namco/Atlus's FC games, a completely different game of the same title was released by Telenet. It was originally an MSX game before being upgraded for PC-88/X1/FM-7.

It's based on the same source, and even uses the same branding (same cover art, same logo and change from ストーリー to 物語(ストーリー), maybe even same plot/setting basis), but it's actually a sort of Gauntlet clone (though the lineage may go back further than that, I've never played it).

Huh ... I never would've guessed, a Gauntlet clone!

Thanks for looking into it Despatche! That's really interesting ... now I wanna check out this old Telenet PC-88 MegaTen game...

I wasn't expecting much when buying this album... but damn this one is hot!! Some awesome melodies/harmonies to be found here. Especially Koise's renditions are notable.
