I know VGMdb has been mostly using "Waga", but if we're to separate romaji by case markers, I think it'd be "Wa ga", since "ga" is a case marker. It's basically the same as "no" of "Watashi no".

actually no, waga mustn't be separated because 我が is an extended version of 我 (edit: same with 我れ -ware)
some japanese words often use that, adding hiragana for the last reading of a word

other edit: 我が家 and 我家 (wagaya), same thing (ok, I stop with examples )

Yeah, I've always seen this word romanized as waga regardless of which romanization scheme was being used.

"我れ" is totally a different case. Both Wa (我) and Ware (我れ) are pronouns with a difference of one extra letter (I don't know about the origin of which, but it's apparently not a particle anyway). "我が" (Waga) is, on the other hand, a pronoun Wa with a particle Ga, and means "Our".

One argument for not separating Waga is however, in modern days it's also seen as attributives (rentaishi) alongside of "Ano", "Kono", etc. In that case it's fine not to separate them.
