Some context about this if you haven't heard yet, especially since the link in the opening post currently doesn't work because she protected her account:
Zoe Quinn accused Alec Holowka of physical abuse, which led to the other developers of Night in the Woods cutting ties with him: https://www.polygon.com/2019/8/29/20...buse-zoe-quinn His sister tweeted today that Alec had killed himself. This article has the text of the two statements she's made: https://www.ign.com/articles/2019/08...l-assault-dies. The first is that she believes the accuser and that Alec was a victim of abuse himself and was working on rehabilitation for what he had done, and the second was that he wished the best for Quinn and she doesn't want people using this as an excuse to harass her over it. ~~~~ I just posted this in the Jeremy Soule thread and I'm going to repost it here because it's also relevant, with the addition that well-wishes for Holowka's family and talking about how you'll miss his music and so on are OK: The facts are on topic. Moralization about burden of proof and court of law, the spectrum of opinion about accusers and alleged abusers, the effects of social media on these situations, and so on are not appropriate topics for this site. These are real things that harm people, assuredly including some members of this site, and it's extremely unlikely that we random nobodies on a music information site will actually have a productive conversation on this that deserves to be in the public record forever. |
