It looks like this music is from the MSX game (Burai: Hachigyoku no Yuushi Densetsu) as the PC-Engine version (Burai: Yadama no Yuushi Densetsu) came out in 1991. I believe these two titles are related as they are both from River Hill Software.

It occurs to me that having a Platform field might be useful for some soundtrack entries, especially older ones where instrumentation quality was platform dependant. Was this ever considered?

There is a platform field. It's on the right under Album Stats.

Currently, this album is listed as PC-88, though I can't necesarilly vouch for whether that's true.

Ug, I'm lame. Thanks, was looking in the wrong spot.

For what its worth, gamefaqs doesn't list a PC-88 version.

I entered PC-88 based the info given on the game's Japanese wiki page, which states that the game was released for the PC-88 in November of '89. And that all subsequent releases were released post November 25th, 1989. There's also a note down the bottom stating that this release (H24X-10010) features the music from the PC-88 release.

By the way, does anyone know if Riverhill Soft Burai Music Project (Chihiro Fujioka & Yumirin Sound Team) is also responsible for Sega Mega CD enhanced port of the game or was the arrangement handled by someone else?

It seems like there is a rare cassette version of this album as seen in this picture:

I don't have any info about it nor other picture.
