Famicom Detective Club: The Missing Heir (Switch) sound credits:

This is weird: Kenji Yamamoto is credited for music composition but as far as we know, he did not compose the famicom version's original music (that was Hiromi). So he may have composed new music for the Switch remake? I don't know if there's any new music in the remakes. Also, some arrangements of music from the original game sounds a lot like his style (very reminescent of the Metroid Prime Trilogy): https://youtu.be/KqJS98TpAgQ?t=700 https://youtu.be/KqJS98TpAgQ?t=1247 https://youtu.be/KqJS98TpAgQ?t=1374 So he may have arranged some music as well?? P.S. : some credits may not be relevant for the site since they may be for voice recording. Last edited by Mentalo; May 23, 2021 at 03:51 AM. |

He was music co-supervisor with Hirokazu Tanaka on the original Famicom game, but you're correct that he didn't do any composition for it. That was outsourced to a woman named "Hiromi" whose identity is still a mystery. The fact that she's not mentioned at all in the game credits despite being clearly credited on the pack-in soundtrack CD makes me think it's some sort of mistake.

But the fact he is'nt credited for "original music" and with the three songs I mentioned earlier, I really think he might have participated to the soundtrack of the remakes. Sadly, we'll most likely never have any explanation for this. |

Well if he arranged anything then he should be credited for arrangement and not composition. There is no new music in the remake that I can see, so the "music composition" credit can only be referring to the original Famicom soundtrack. I don't think any other explanation really holds water. The game credit just appears to be wrong.

(Honestly I might not even pick Kenji Yamamoto as the Metroid composer most likely to do these, like the last song in particular sounds much more to me like Minako Hamano than him) |
