Default Western versions of Japanese titles in album listings

Is there a way to put Western names of Japanese titles on albums? I recall there was a place for this in an early release of the DB.

For example, "Gyakuten Saiban" is "Phoenix Wright" in the U.S. So, I would like to be able to search for either one, and pull back possible relevant entries.

Right now, when I edit an album and look at the album title field, there is a note that lines 4+ of the field can be used for "alternate" titles, so can this be used to be the Western name?

If I'm not mistaken, it's what the first line is intended for. The search function searches through all the fields transparently, anyway.

Yeah, the album title field would be something like this:

Phoenix Wright 5: Turnabout Polka
逆転裁判5: 逆転ポルカ
Gyakuten Saiban: Gyakuten Polka

So whether you search for "gyakuten" or "wright", it'll find the album.

If everyone is using Gyakuten Saiban on the first line though (I haven't checked) then you can put the Phoenix Wright title on the 4th line.

Gyakuten Saiban is technically the "Ace Attorney" series in America, since Phoenix Wright is only the lead in the first three. I agree that the Western titles should be in there somewhere (including the game field), but exactly where, I don't really mind. Just make sure it's all consistent.

I would put the entire Western title in that example. So it would read "Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney" and "Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney - Justice for All" and so forth. I want to put the Western names, so the keywords can be picked up in a search. I sometimes only know a game/album by its Western title, so having it show up in the search results will allow me to learn the foreign name (Japanese, Korean, etc.).

Thanks for the information, all.

Does anybody know if we should list both Western and Japanese titles in the game field? It is being done here, for example, but I feel that may conflict with the related albums feature.

I do it all the time. Ultimately it won't matter because:

- the current game listings will eventually be replaced with a linking system, much like the artists

- the Related Albums code will be replaced with a better method to relate albums, once we figure a good one out
