Default 1st composer who released an album

I don't mean to start a flame thread and I don't care much about Tommy Tallarico, but what's your thought on this specific claim of his?

"You know, I was the very first video game composer to ever put out an album worldwide on a major label."

He said that textually in an interview, I found it in a video that lists all the times he's said the same thing about all his achievements and all the good friends he has in all the industries of the universe.

I'm curious if that's actually true. I'm afraid we're going to mention Chris Huelsbeck, are we? Yuzo Koshiro? I'm no expert but to release an album as a composer for a game music, you must first hold the rights to the music you compose, and not give it to anybody else. So the list of candidates would be pretty small to start with?

What? That makes zero sense. Unless you're interpreting the statement as "self-published" and not "had my music on a CD" which is what I seems like to me.

Also he said 'major label' which usually reffers to one of a specific set of companies (Sony, EMI, Universal, Warner and there used to be a couple more and even now two of those are the same).

Yes I know the difference; it's the way he phrased it that makes it seem like he published it himself, like it's his own music, not like music he composed as an employee working for a company. Also, he didn't mention which game and/or album it was.

Well, the album he refers to is probably this: https://vgmdb.net/album/1984 -- Capitol Records, which is EMI. A compilation, so not a single game anyway. And 1994.

Now we just need to find if it was world-wide or just US where that album was sold.
