Default Translation question

Hi,

I don't know if this is the right place to ask but I need some help with the translation of 2 soundtrack titles which don't use the usual 'Original Soundtrack' (オリジナルサウンドトラック) or 'Music Collection' (音楽集).

The first one uses 音楽戦記 which can be romanized as ongaku senki. I know ongaku means 'music' and senki means 'military history' (or 'war history', maybe?). Now I don't really know what both words combined should mean.

The other one uses 魔空戦神異聞 and the romanization is something like makusenshin ibun. Don't really know what to make of this though.

Any suggestions for both?
Thanks in advance for any help.

So, is makusenshin ibun the correct romanization of 魔空戦神異聞?

Why jin and not shin? I'm not arguing it should (or could be) shin, I'm just curious why.

If 音楽戦記 really had to be translated though, I'd personally go with "Music Chronicle(s)", although not the best of choices.

Most Japanese games, manga or anime that have ~戦記 in their original title are usually translated into "~ Chronicle(s)", "Chronicle(s) of ~" or "Record of ~ War" for their official English release.

I would translate 音楽戦記 that way as well, though I know that the opinion on this is divided.

Yeah, something like 'Music Chronicle' sounds good to me. For the time being I'll keep the original Japanese term though.

I still don't quite get this. 音楽戦記 has a meaning in Japanese, while makuusenjin ibun has no meaning in English. It's not like it's a person's name; the Japanese are describing this release as a music chronicle. Shouldn't we also describe it as a music chronicle? It doesn't make sense to me not to.

Anyway, the 4th line seems like a good place to put whichever one we don't want to default to. If we want to romaji things as a standard, we could at least add translations as an extra title.
