He's the one who played guitar on OtherWorld from FFX?? I really like his True Golf Classics stuff he did on the Genesis, but I can't really find other games he worked on besides Sword World and some Game Boy title.

Yep, his game works page lists guitar performance on "Otherworld" along with game music.

The list of games on his page is:
  • Crimson III (MSX? PC-98?)
  • Sword World (SNES? PC-98?)
  • Chikyuu Kaihou Gun ZAS (GB)
  • Mr. Pro Yakyuu Perfect (PC-98)
  • Devil's Course (PC-98? SNES? Genesis? 3DO? Saturn?)
  • Masters (I guess this is Masters: Harukanaru Augusta 2 [PC-98? SNES?] or 3 [3DO? Saturn? SNES? PS1? N64?])
He doesn't list systems for the games, but he mentions having done PC-88, PC-98, GB, and SNES work. EDIT: NES too.

Usual caveat that any or all of these games may be collaborative applies.

ah nice. and yea, for the True Golf stuff he usual worked with Yumi Kinoshita and Yusaburo Shimojyo. since he didn't mention the Genesis, I'm guessing the songs I liked are actually by the two mentioned above. can't find much on them either, though.

Oh, so you're thinking he didn't do any of the Genesis T&E Soft games at all? It's weird, because of Project2612's listings (which are sometimes wrong), I've always thought of Shigekazu Kamaki as the main composer of those good, jazzy tracks, but now I'm thinking they could very well belong to those other composers. Any chance there's a way to contact Kamaki on his site to confirm he didn't do any Genesis stuff? Also, MobyGames, which is usually correct, has all three of them listed in the Pebble Beach Golf Links for Genesis credits, so maybe he did do some Genesis stuff after all?

Those Genesis golf games were all originally for the PC-98, so it's possible that Kamaki wrote some of the original music and wasn't involved with the Genesis porting of said tunes. He doesn't specify which version(s) of the games he worked on.

(I'm assuming the Genesis version reuses music from the PC-98 there, I haven't heard the original soundtrack.)

Hmm, I haven't heard the music to the PC-98 version -wish I had access to it though. There are credits available for the SNES/SFC versions of these games, but what makes it complicated is that some of the music for the GEN/MD versions is the same and some of it is different. And now this new point about the PC-98 versions, that just makes for even more confusion.

So it seems possible that there are new tracks composed for the Genesis, and if it's confirmed that Kamaki didn't do any Genesis work, then those new tracks are those others.

It does appear that Kamaki has an email address on that site. Maybe he could shed some light on this.

If he didn't mention it on his site, either he forgot about these projects, or just did programming/SFX/arranging. BTW, never trust Project2612 credits, as they are almost always erroneous (co-crediting Izuho Takeuchi for Sonic 2, really?)

And I've heard the original PC-98 soundtracks with HOOT (Devil's Course and Harukanaru Augusta), but I don't think they share the same songs (maybe one or two tracks). Shunsuke Minomiya, Hiroshi Morita, and Akira Tamada are also credited in Waialae Country Club MD along with the other three mentioned, while the SNES version just credits Yumi Kinoshita (Pebble Beach Golf Links too).

EDIT: I could only find the SPC set for Waialae Country Club, and it seems like the title screen music was arranged for the Genesis version two years later, but that's all I could find.

IMO, I think Yusaburo Shimojyo did the jazzy stuff, but that's just speculation haha.

Oh, I never trust Project's credits -I don't trust SNESmusic.org's credits either. That is, I stopped trusting those sites for composer info about 2 years ago.

The staff roll to Pebble Beach for Genesis list Yumi Kinoshita, Shigekazu Kamaki, Yusaburo Shimojyo; the one for SNES lists only Yumi. But the Genesis one has some new tracks that aren't in the SNES one (some tracks are the same though). I know someone who just ripped a set of Pebble Beach for the SNES. Also, if you're looking for Devil's Course for the SNES, look under Wicked 18, which is what it was called for the North American release. Anyway, all the credits to all these games are now up at vgmpf -they were just put up today actually.

Did you listen to Pebble Beach for PC-98? I'm curious if the Genesis specific tracks are heard in the PC-98 version (BGM 2 and 3, Hole Overview, Menu).

Also, what makes you think Shimojyo did the jazzy stuff?

I couldn't find a HOOT set for Pebble Beach, but the other two each had seven songs on the set and I don't think they shared any tracks. (ill have to check again, though)

EDIT: I relistened to the PC-98 stuff, and while some tracks are like the jazzy stuff on the Genesis ports, they're different compositions. Both the PC-98 soundtracks seem to share a few songs as well. Maybe Kamaki did do compositions for the Genesis ports, but the PC-98 games could have had more composers too. It's even possible he did the SNES versions instead of the PC-98 ones, since he never said which version he worked on.

I'm going to try and see if I can get credits for the PC-98 games, shouldn't be too hard since they're Golf games haha.

BTW I just noticed that the Kamaki was never credited under "Music" or "Composer" specially, like Yumi Kinoshita (here too) and Yusaburo Shimojyo were.

EDIT 2: Pebble Beach Golf Links for the SNES (composed solely by Yumi Kinoshita, according to the credits) has those jazzy sounding pieces, so it may be her/him after all who did that type of stuff. I still need to check Pebble Beach no Hotou New Tournament Edition to see what Shimojyo's style sounds like without the influence of other composers.

Basically, I've listened to all of the SNES and Genesis games. I think the real answer will lie in the credits to the PC-98 versions and the music to the PC-98 versions.

You can listen to them yourself with HOOT, but unless I'm skipped over a few songs in the Genesis sets, only the title screen music for both games were re-used. (although the general style of music is the same) I'll try to play through the games and see if they have credits soon.

It's too bad there isn't a HOOT set for Pebble Beach though.

yeah.

I've found out some new about Yumi Kinoshita recently. Apparently she was remarried and became Yumi Satake. Looks like she did a few DS pet games for Digital Kids Inc (now Ubisoft Nagoya). I can't say 100% if that's her, but I'm fairly sure it is. (the music reminds me of the Golf stuff a bit too)

Oh, and Yusaburo Shimojyo ended up as one of the sound directors for tri-Crescendo. pretty cool.

If someone has a PC-98 emulator, if you play through all 18 courses, I'm sure you'll get the credits, as for the Genesis/SNES versions, I found that if you just play through all 18 courses in Tournament mode, regardless whether you win or lose, you will get the credits. I thought Yumi did all the music heard in the SNES version while Shigekazu composed the new tracks for the Genesis version.

Hey guys, so this is an old conversation we were having, but I just noticed that someone uploaded the PC-98 version of Pebble Beach Golf Links to Zophar.net:

https://www.zophar.net/music/pc-9801...ach-golf-links

So the SNES version was a port of the PC-98 version, right? Or did they come out at the same time? Basically, I'm still trying to figure out who did which tracks for that game. Is there a credits listing for the PC-98 version?

I'm just gonna ask one more time, but clarify my question. Does anyone have the ability to play PC-98 games on an emulator or otherwise? And if so, can you play Pebble Beach Golf Links and see who did music/sound in the staff roll?

I'm playing through all the T&E golf games and am at PC-98 and was wondering who wrote the songs so am happy to contribute!

Producer: Toshiro Yokoyama
Director: Eiji Yokoyama
Program Staff: Eiji Kato, Hiroatsu Kono

Sound Staff: Yumi Kinoshita, Shigekazu Kamaki
POLYSYS Staff: Katsuhisa Ota, Hideaki Shinmura

Because the other courses are add-ons they all use the same music as the base game. I'm investigating if it's possible for me to find different base games.

cheers,

Thanks a lot, gingerbeardman! It's kind of too bad Kinoshita AND Kamaki were listed, just because, now we still don't know exactly who did what. But I've been looking for those PC-98 credits for a while now, so thank you again. Well anyway, at least we know now that Yusaburo Shimojyo did not do the Menu track from Pebble Beach Golf Links on GEN/MD, and based on that, he's probably not the one responsible for the jazzy tracks. Seems like the jazzy tracks in the T&E Soft games are either Kamaki or Kinoshita.

Hi Matt/gingerbeardman, could you play Harukanaru Augusta for PC-98 and see if one, it has a soundtrack, and two, who the composer is listed in the credits? Also, is there any way of sharing the soundtrack?

Hi,

I've recorded some more T&E SOFT Staff Roll videos.

To see the intro/break/staffsections you must use the course disk with the system disk that was current when the course was released. Using Ver.1.0 course disks with Ver.2.0 will not show you any cutscenes.

Useful tips for speeding up Stroke/Match Play games:
Ver1.0: hold ALT key to allow the game to run as fast as possible (fast forward ball travel)
Ver.2.0/2.5: give up each hole, you'll still see break and staff roll

(this is now complete unless I find out something new about Ver.2.0 Harukanaru Augusta HD)

Here are all the PC-98 games in chronological order with intro/break/staff videos.

Soundtracks for most of these games shared: http://www.mediafire.com/folder/tcm6u1rhz1xsy/vgm

Recorded to WAV using hoot, then edited and converted to FLAC & MP3.

For Harukanaru Augusta HD, I have two songs listed as (TBC). I was never able to hear or access either Intro/Tea Break tunes myself during play.

Have fun!
