I'm not expert on Japanese punctuation, but the title on the cover looks more like −前編− than -前編- .

Do you mean it's a specific character? − is actually a minus character. ― which is horizontal bar may be the correct character.

It's pretty much impossible to tell by the eye but just by reading about its usage it would be the one I'd guess.

Yeah, the bar. It was originally −前編− , but a recent edit changed it to -前編-, but I was thinking about reverting it.

Well if you revert it, you may also want to change it to use the horizontal bar. The original −前編− before the edit uses minus characters.
