Default Official release or fake?

Hello everybody.

I've ordered the japanese soundtrack Moonlit Shadow - http://vgmdb.net/album/2451 on eBay. And today I received this CD and OBI says "Made in Taiwan" (Miya Records CO, Ltd / MICA-0458)

Did I buy a chinese fake?

Sorry, but yes. Everything by Miya records is a bootleg. You have to be careful on Ebay.

We should add this album to VGMdb.

Thanks, Secret Squirrel.

It's too bad. But now i'll check every new purchases for bootlegs.

P.S. At least, the price for this fake wasn't so high ($5).

Another thing to go look for is the price, if pictures aren't avaliable; (almost) everything under 10$ will be a bootleg, specially if it's a japanese release.

Sup terrania.

Next time you purchase a soundtrack, it's a good idea to look for the catalog number and/or the publisher which you can then compare to the information on this site. Note: not all VGM soundtracks have a catalog number. If neither of these are posted anywhere on the seller's page, you can contact him/her and ask for this info. If they don't reply at all, it's probably because they know why you're asking for these details.

Oh and one other thing. Some sellers might try to pass off their CD-R copies that they've made as being authentic originals. If a soundtrack that you purchase has a catalog number, this can also be found on the data-side of the CD within the inner ring.

One man was smart, he felt smart. Two men were smart, they smelt farrr...darn it! I'll never get it right.

What is "the box" that people are supposed to think outside of anyway? Hmm. Maybe it's similar to the Borg from Star Trek who dwelled as a collective hive-mind within a...box/cube. Those that deviated from this hive-mind would, in effect, be thinking outside of the box. it has both a figurative and a literal meaning.
