Default Episode #006: July Selections

Here's a mix of new & old: Four album picks from July '09 and four albums from July '89. Getting a balanced perspective on where we've been shows us that currently the vgm scene is completing the circle back to our roots, and the current Retro Gaming trend reinforces that notion.

These Konami, Namco, and Sega tunes from 20 years ago illustrate that what's hot back then is still just as hot today. But it's not all about the nostalgia, as new releases such as the Shatter Soundtrack give us modern genre-blending sounds to enjoy.

Episode #006 Contents:
* Pachislot Ganbare Goemon OST
* Legend of Joe Musashi: SHINOBI Music Box
* Shatter Official Videogame Soundtrack
* Yuusha 30 Sou Original Soundtrack
* Konami Game Music Collection Vol.0
* Konami Famicom Music Memorial Best Vol.1
* Winning Run -G.S.M. NAMCO 2-
* Symphony Sorcerian

Thanks for listening, and enjoy the music!

Great podcast. Packed with music, and good selections at that. I'm considering picking up the Shatter soundtrack soon, and tracking down Shinobi and Symphony Sorcerian at a later time.

Highly enjoyable episode! I was pleasantly surprised by the Yuusha 30 samples, being the only album I didn't know what to expect from. In my opinion, your format is already polished and near-perfect, Carl. One possibly improvable aspect though could be reducing the length and/or number of samples for each album so that the flow between the albums would be a tad faster and more dynamic. I think this was OK in general, but I found the Shatter segment to be too long, for example. It's a nitpick however, like I implied, the podcast is great. Thanks for producing!

Great podcast! You should do more reviews of old albums. Most of them are not known, and they're like buried treasures, like Symphony Sorcerian.

Hmmm, It's something to consider.
What do people think, do you want to see me giving more coverage for the old albums?

Certainly, I think there are many who would appreciate that. As jubily said, there a re many buried treasures out there that people might never get to know about otherwise.
