I've recently stumbled upon a piece of information, which is that the end credits theme in the American version of Wild Arms differs from the Japanese one. Plus, it seems this different theme is not included on the soundtrack release.

A video of the credits sequence can be seen here.

Since I've never really played to Wild Arms and haven't listened to the whole soundtrack, I was wondering if said credits theme is an original composition or an arrangement of various game themes (my guess would be the latter since it's a medley)? What bugs me is that it's credited as is:

Quote:
Music Finale

Composer:
Chuck Doud

Producer:
Buzz Burrowes
"Composer" being the ambiguous word.

I would greatly appreciate if anyone could share some light on this. The info will be used to update Chuck Doud's profile on VGM Rush.

Well, this seems to be mostly original composition, but does contain small parts of "To the End of the Wilderness", "Courage (Dungeon)" (atleast the music around 2:30 onwards sounds like it), then maybe "Ballad of the Shadow Wolf" (Again, not so sure). Someone with better ears for melodyspotting should check those. :P

But damn, that ending track is nice, especially those arranged parts of Naruke's tunes. And seems that I need to start playing this, I can't remember anything like that in the end roll, of course, could be because I have the PAL-copy.

When I saw this post, it got me wondering how many English versions of Japanese games have unique opening/ending songs. I know they usually just use an instrumental version, but some games like Wild Arms and Alundra have unique songs that can only be found in the English version? Is there any other games like this?

I believe most of the English Tales of... games had the original Japanese opening music (and possibly endings) changed in some way.

Overlapping tracks sound much worse than the original release which actually has acceptable mastering, http://vgmdb.net/album/1069

Don't know what they did, this version is louder and has slightly extra clipping, but not to the point where it would explain why it's so much worse. Pretty much sums up where the entire music industry has been going...

I think this album was derived from the data on the game disc itself which explains a lot because a lot of early games on any system usually don't take full use of a system's sound capabilities like later ones do. "Critical Hit! (Fight Theme)" sounds as flat on Complete Tracks as it does in the game; the remastering on the OGS really took this track to new heights - solidifying the argument if you’re a fan there is no reason not to own both albums.

And as most here probably feel, it's a bummer the US/(PAL?) ending - which slays the Japanese ending vocal - didn't make it onto Complete Tracks, which makes it not so complete.

On a related note, I've played the game several times and don't ever remember hearing track 2-24 "Fragments of Hope, Revival". Can anyone else confirm that?

I've re-played the game since I posted this and confirmed this plays when the party revives Zephyr, the Gaurdian of Hope near the end of the game.
